Home DecorUpdated Playroom Plans April 4, 2016Things have steadily been coming in for the office/playroom and I am getting so excited! I knew this room was going to be special, but seeing it start to come together is even better than I’d pictured. But as I’m seeing some of the finishes in person, I’ve realized I need to make a few changes in the plans. I’m going for a really fun, colorful place that inspires creativity in both me and sweet Rosie. You can see the full plans post here. As a reminder, I’m starting with a layered rug base. 1. Bleached Jute Rug | 2. Boucherouite Rug | 3. Boucherouite Rug Blue Wildflower Wallpaper | 2. Red Marbled Lamps | 3. Flamingo Photograph | 4. Sputnik style Light Fixture | 5. Sheer Blush Curtians | 6. Kantha Blanket for Lounging | 7. Comfy Plum Desk Chair | 8. Leather Moroccan Pouf These items really finish off the Moroccan, creative space I’d pictured. The plan was to do a focal wall with the Blue Wildflower Wallpaper (the rest of the room is white). This is the planned focal wall. I planned the set of Red Marbled Lamps for each end of the long storage console and the flamingo photo was going to go centered over it. I have been in love with flamingos lately for Rosie and I love the idea of a photo that feels more mature for me: perfect mix for us two girls. This wall was going to be wallpapered in the blue floral. This was a lot going on in one space, but I was really excited about it. After seeing all of the items, I first decided to soften the focal wall just a little. As much as I love this blue paper, I’m thinking a pattern with a white background might blend a little better with the rest of the room and not be so stark…there is so much color and pattern happening, I think something slightly more subtle is in order. I have another plan for this blue paper, though! I loved it too much not to use it, so it’s inspiring another room in the house. I’ll be sharing those plans soon! This flamingo print was the perfect fit in the room because it tied in the red lamps and the other blush tones. {via} But as soon as I opened the lamps, I knew the print wouldn’t work as I’d pictured. In the photos, they looked more red/orange, but in person, they’re almost like a dark pink. I swear I have a love affair with these lamps though. I don’t know what it is about them, but I just LOVE THEM. (You can see how I used a different shade of them in the living room here.) I actually like the color even better in the room, but it sent me looking for a new flamingo print. I tried to make that first one work because I just loved that photo so much. But I finally found one that really ties in the different colors. Here are the updated plans with the new print: 2. Red Marbled Lamps | 3. Flamingo Photograph | 4. Sputnik style Light Fixture | 5. Sheer Blush Curtians | 6. Kantha Blanket for Lounging | 7. Comfy Plum Desk Chair | 8. Leather Moroccan Pouf The new flamingo print has a really different feel than the other, but I love that it brings in the blues and shades of pink in the room. I’m waiting until I get it in to nail down what kind of pattern I want to do on the focal wall. I have some ideas, but I know actually seeing the colors and the scale of the print in person will nail it down. I can’t wait to see this wall come to life! The rest of the room is pretty much in messy piles, but I’m tackling that this week. And, can we talk about the storage? I’m so excited about these bins. Bookshelves on top for office storage and Rosie’s books and bins below for easy-access to Rosie’s toys. {You can find this bookshelf here.} I’ll share more updates and sneak peeks as the space comes together! It’ll be officially revealed in a few weeks for a really exciting edition of Blogger Stylin’ Home Tours! I’ll be teaming up with some amazing bloggers to share how we work & play in our daily lives. You’ll see workspaces, playrooms, backyards where families unwind, the possibilities are endless! It’ll be an inspiring week: April 18 – 22.
