EntertainingColorful & Country Fall Table October 13, 2015 For me, fall is about gathering and entertaining. It’s about piles of pumpkins and burning candles. It’s about hay rides and pumpkin patches and enjoying the crisp air wrapped up in an old quilt. This very idea inspired this Colorful & Country Fall Table. As y’all know, I’ve got some country in me to the core. While I love all types of design and very stylized interiors, country will always play a bit of a role. Nothing says country and home like a family quilt. We have so many in our family made by great and great-great grandmothers. Each one is so beautiful and I just think they tell the most beautiful story. This is actually a fall table I put together last year that I never really shared. As I shared in my Halloween party post, one of my go-to table secrets is throwing a blanket or throw on as the tablecloth. It’s a quick and simple way to add color, pattern, and texture. In this one, I decided to really play up the natural colors of the season and throw on this cozy family quilt as a base. When you have such a patterned back drop, you don’t need a lot of other elements to make your table really shine! Pumpkins in all colors, shapes, and sizes done the center of this table with a few brass candelabras thrown in for a little fancy, magical flair. I love mixing my dinnerware, even if it’s subtle. I love the contrast of brass silverware against this country quilt. And even when I’m using all white plates, I like using a plain dinner plate and a white patterned-rim plate layered on top. In this table, I mixed colored vintage glassware, pulling colors out of the quilt. I love using colored glassware, but have never alternated them before this table. I love the mix of the brown, blue, and green. I tend to go super-simple with my napkin rings and/or place cards because usually, my napkins are heavily patterned. In this case, I went with a solid white napkin rolled up so it didn’t compete with the quilt. I first put on my favorite twig napkin rings then stuck a simple cinnamon stick and feather down in. I’ve rounded up items so that you can re-create this table at your house! I had a hard time finding a quilt like this. I mean, you just can’t replicate an old, colorful family quilt! I did include a Kantha I’m loving, though, below that would have a similar feel. I even found everything you need for these simple napkin rings.
