EntertainingNeutral Thanksgiving Tablescape – BSHT 2016 November 7, 2016Thanksgiving is such a special holiday. Family gathers around the table to feast and celebrate what we’re thankful for and I love setting a pretty table for loved ones to enjoy. Today and tomorrow, I’m joining with ten other bloggers for BSHT Thanksgiving to share beautiful and thoughtful table ideas. I decided to do something different this year. Y’all know I love color and pairing different colors together, but this time, I wanted to go neutral and textured. I also decided to photograph my table at night. There’s just something magical about candlelit dinners in my book! To me, the key with doing neutral well is to choose different textures and different neutral shades. Mixing white and ivory? Yes please! I love really having fun with your base. This year, I brought our my DIY Moroccan Wedding Blanket as a tablecloth. I love using throws and unexpected things as tablecloths to bring in texture or pattern. For the centerpiece, I started with the candlesticks. I used a thrift store brass and black candelabra in the center and some wooden candlesticks on the ends. Using colored candles are my very favorite way to liven up a table. These taupe candles are a great and unexpected addition that are still neutral, but contrast with the creams and ivories. I stacked and brought some white pumpkins out and then clipped some greenery and berries from our yard and nestled it all around. It’s amazing what kind of texture and life some free greenery can add! For the place settings, I layered some of my favorite neutral plates. I used my bright white dinner plates mixed with cream and gold-rimmed salad plates and bowls. The tea cups may be my absolute favorite part. Why are tea cups and saucers so cute and special-feeling? And coffee with that pumpkin pie isn’t so bad either. I love adding something textured in the center of the plate. Sometimes, I put my napkin there, sometimes a place card, and sometimes just a little decoration. It’s amazing what simple pine cones can add! Lots of layers and texture…who needs lots of color? I surprised myself with this one, y’all! While I still love color, I couldn’t be happier with this neutral Thanksgiving table! Yes, that often means tablescapes, inspiring interiors, and fun before and after renos. But it also means family. Faith. Joy. Struggles. Laughter. Health. You’ll find a little bit of all of that here as I share how we’re choosing to live with both style and purpose.
