Home DecorAmericana Home Decor June 30, 2015Summer always makes me think of July 4th, stars and stripes, and red, white and blue. Something about patriotic-inspired home decor just screams classic summer to me and I love bringing it into my home in small ways. It works for the entire year, but from Memorial Day to Labor Day, it’s especially fun to have around. This year, I rounded up my favorite Americana home decor items for Zillow Digs. I love the rustic and barn elements that define this style, but I gave it a little fresh twist with some new patterns and clean lines. You can read the full post and find sources here. This style brings such good memories to mind! We’ve spent the Fourth of July up at the lake for as long as I can remember. There’s patriotic bunting, great food, lots of family, long lazy days spent on the water, and amazing fireworks. This year, we’re breaking out of that tradition a bit. My sister is having a baby and we’re visiting her to meet the new addition. I’ll miss our normal traditions, but adding another little one to the clan can’t be beat, friends! Do y’all have any Fourth traditions? I’d love to hear them! And if you missed my red, white, and blue round up last week, you can see it here. Some of my favorite tablescapes are in that one!
Megan says June 30, 2015 at 12:06 pm Lovely collection! I typically stay away from themed items but love the red, white and blue for summer. I really like the items that could be used throughout the year though, such as the red and white stripped pillow or the blue and white pillows. However, I’m loving the wood map art! As for traditions, we typically have gone to my dad’s uncle’s place in the country where my dad’s side of the family is almost always at (it’s a huge family!). There’s a lake, lots of room to explore, fun for the littles, and fireworks! They’ve mastered the bottle rockets… they took a 4′ by 8′ sheet of plywood, drilled holes at maybe every 1″ or so (peg board style) and fill it all up with bottle rockets. But the trick is to tie them together so you light one on one side and the fire goes across the board, lighting them all up so they all go off. It’s crazy! Reply

Corinna - A Designer At Home says July 1, 2015 at 11:02 am That’s wonderful! We don’t have any traditions. And I hope this weekend isn’t the start of one because we will be tiling our bathroom! Haha. I love your decor picks. They’re so sophisticated! Reply
