UncategorizedFilling Your Home with Light December 20, 2013Christmas can be such a busy time. I hate that the holiday has become so commercialized. It’s become about gifts, having the perfect decorations, going to party after party, and then we blink and it’s over. None of those things are bad. In fact, they can be pretty great, but they become the focus and take away from the meaning of the season. I chose to put these “LIGHT” letters that I cut out of glitter scrapbook paper right inside our front door as a reminder to not get caught up in the hustle and bustle and focus on the season. I wanted to tell a quick, little story behind the “LIGHT.” Right around the time that I was planning my Christmas decor, I was talking with my sister about their decorations. She was telling me about a night when she and her husband were getting everything down from the attic and putting up the tree. And it just hit her, why do we do all of this? It’s such a wonderful, festive time, but we really go through a lot to jazz up our homes for Christmas. She asked her husband, Daniel, this and I absolutely loved his response. He said that this season is about Jesus, the LIGHT of the world as He is often called, coming to earth. We fill our homes with LIGHT to remember and celebrate that. I needed to hear that to remind myself that we don’t just decorate because it’s pretty or festive, although it is those things. But there is a deeper meaning behind it. We are filling our homes with light. I have loved my decorations this year like never before. Yes, they are really my style, but I really believe that it has to do with my LIGHT letters and the refreshed meaning behind it all in my heart. I hope that all of you are having the merriest of Christmases with your loved ones. I hope your hearts, homes, and holiday is filled with light and joy and love. As many bloggers will be, I will be taking a break from the blog next week to spend time with my family as I know all of you readers will be as well. So, let me take this opportunity to say MERRY CHRISTMAS! I will be back the week of New Year’s refreshed and ready to recap 2013 and look ahead to 2014. I’m amazed at what has happened this year and what is already in the works for next year!
