UncategorizedSummer Home Tour June 5, 2014 Welcome, y’all, and happy summer! I’m so glad you’re here! If you’re popping over from The Pennington Point, welcome! It is truly starting to feel like summer here in South Carolina. The days are in the 90’s, the fireflies are out, and I have three days and counting left in the school year. Full-time blogging comes in just a few days! I cannot wait and I’ve had summer on the brain for a while. So, when Gina from The Shabby Creek Cottage asked me to join her Summer Tour of Homes, I was thrilled to infuse a little summer indoors. You can read about my inspiration for this tour here. I had the best time infusing some summer into our spaces and brightening things up. My husband and I bought this house a little over a year ago and have done major renovations. We moved walls, added a master suite, moved the kitchen into the bigger garage, and made things a bit pretty. Check out Our Renovation Story and the Before & Afters to see what we’ve been up to. Our home isn’t perfect and to be honest, it only looks like the pictures when I’m taking the pictures. Busy life with a Great Dane means things aren’t always perfect, but I sure do love celebrating style. This blog is based on the belief that we each have a unique style that’s all our own. I hope to help you find it by embracing mine, sharing my style journey, and flying my style freak flag! To learn a bit more about my boho modern style, check out my About page. Alright, now that you have a little basis for me and my style, onto the tour! Our white kitchen is my favorite room in our house. The bright white and pops of color feel so summery to me. The live edge island is one of my favorite projects we’ve done. And I love the open shelves that are always ready to style. While I have a major love affair with white walls, I lean heavily towards cozy texture and dark accents layered on top. My goal for summer was to brighten. In the living room, I brightened our dark, leather couch with my DIY Moroccan Wedding Blanket. The dough bowl turned coffee table found a home in the living room. And the rag rug slipcovered ottoman gives a little summery color punch. We installed built-ins across from the couch and I love having the display space for all of our books and some pretties. The dining room got some major changes for the season. I got rid of the dark, kilim rug…just for now. I changed out the mix of chairs for all white. And I threw a little tie dye onto the table with an impromptu tablecloth. Yes, those are the curtains from my office. I had planned to dip-dye a tablecloth just to change things up a bit in here, but at the last minute was craving a tie-dye pattern. I threw the curtains on it just to try it out and I actually loved it! They’ll be going back to the office and I’ll make an official tablecloth, but for now, you can’t get more re-purposing than that! I love our little front room, deemed “The Lounge.” It’s right inside the front door, has a fireplace to style, and has tons of natural light! I have been on a huge tie-dye kick lately. The office curtains, a table runner for outside, and now these new pillows. I think I’ve finally perfected my tie-dye tutorial and will be sharing tomorrow! The light in this room made it the perfect place for a little indoor garden. Nothing says summer like bringing lots of green inside! We just recently finished our master bedroom. It’s bright and cheery and has the perfect blend of our styles. And the most summery place of all at our house just happens to be my favorite. Since we got married, we’ve dreamed of having a pretty outdoor space to enjoy and entertain. We had the best time putting this patio together this spring! We’ve got space to lounge, eat, and entertain! You can read about the patio and see more details here, here, and here. One of my very favorite parts is having this buffet to style for those summer get-togethers! Thank you for touring my home! I’m so glad you stopped by to say hello. We have several more big projects left to finish on this house. We’ll be tackling the front exterior, the guest bathroom, and guest bedroom this summer! Check back in for some more room reveals! Make sure you check out the next stop on the tour, Southern Hospitality. I know Rhoda will have some amazing inspiration for you! And in case you missed any, here are the other stops along the tour. Kristin @ bliss-athome.com says June 5, 2014 at 8:47 am So great Linds!! I love that it exudes your style! Love that little wicker number between your Eames chairs too! Is that a table or a basket repurposed? Either way, love that it adds texture. xo Kristin Reply
Lindsay says June 5, 2014 at 8:57 am Thanks Kristin!!! I’m actually not sure what that little wicker thing is. I got a set of two of them at a thrift store…one was turned upside down like an end table and one was flipped over like a waste basket! No clue what the original intent was ๐ Reply

Amy says June 5, 2014 at 12:23 pm Hi Lindsay, I had to go find the post about Gracie! We also have 2 Great Danes (1 is 7 y.o and 1 is 3 y.o)and an English lab (5 y.o), so I am always interested in seeing how people with BIG dogs decorate in real life. You know, having nothing breakable or edible within tail height or mouth height, having beach towels on the floor in front of the water bowl and the backyard door to catch muddy feet and slobber. Little things like that ๐ I wouldn’t trade their funny behavior or affection for anything. Our guys also sit on your lab by backing up onto your legs and keeping their front feet on the floor, and they sleep in bed as well. Such is life when you are a pet parent ๐ Hoping to see more posts about decorating with dogs in your future. Orr Dane Smokey even has the same coloring and markings that Gracie has – wish I could show you a pic. Happy summer! Amy Reply

Victoria says August 8, 2014 at 7:38 am Love your home! May I ask if that is granite or marble on your kitchen counters and the name if you have it. It is so soft and dreamy… Reply
Lindsay says August 11, 2014 at 10:51 am Sure Victoria! It’s granite! I wanted marble badly, but was told over and over it wasn’t good for kitchens. This Pretoria White granite looked a lot like I was hoping for. I posted about it here: http://thewhitebuffalostylingco.com/kitchen-series-day-3-countertops/ Reply
