UncategorizedAllume: Real Light Living October 21, 2013Come as you are. That’s the first thing listed on the Allume Conference About page and I immediately breathed a sigh of relief. They just want me. The Lindsay who loves to style, DIY, deep theological discussions, great food, campires, and bulb lights. The Lindsay who has a short patience, currently feels overworked and ineffective, and often loses her temper. That girl is okay with them. In fact, that’s who they want. They’re not after the perfect, but the real. I’m headed to Allume this week. I have to admit that I was initially so excited about Allume. When I bought my ticket, I first posted here. And don’t get me wrong, I am still excited. But in the midst of Halloween party styling and giveaways, Knocktoberfest, Blogger Stylin’ Home Tours, and all of the other wonderful things going on around here, I have to admit, I’ve been a bit swamped. Allume really snuck up on me and my first reaction was how am I going to fit that in?! My next reaction (which I’m pretty sure came from above) was this is exactly what I need right now. I just spent some time snooping around their page, and I KNOW it’s exactly what I need right now. They have a section on their website called “What you can look forward to.” Yes, I’ll learn some blogging basics: social media, finding your voice in writing, making money blogging, etc. And believe me, I NEED those right now. Such a vital time for those ideas. But the things that really stick out to me are these. Soul-filling. Time with kindred spirits. Inspiring keynotes. Learning how to make a local and global impact. Closing night worship with other bloggers. Now, that’s what’s got me excited. It’s so easy in the hustle and bustle to really neglect these things above. My church’s logo is based off the idea of one life pouring into another. But the key point there is that we cannot keep pouring out forever. At some point, we need to be poured into. That’s how I feel now…all poured out. I’m ready for a little soul-filling. *** I’m excited to learn about making money blogging, social media, and some other great blogging tips from Emily and Ryan. But I am just as excited to learn about marriage and blogging and finding the balance from Nester and her hubby. It’s going to be a great weekend! I head there on Thursday, but in the meantime, I’ve got Knocktober Fest still on the way! On a lighter note, I’m so excited to have a reason to use my new White Buffalo business cards. Front: Back: Are any of you going to Allume? Or know someone who is? That was the absolute best part about Haven…meeting new “kindred spirits” who you connect with and who understand this blogging world we happen to find ourselves in. Tomorrow, I’ll be back with some Knocktober Fest inspiration and teasers! Make sure you check out the ladies who debuted their projects today: 1. Lindsay – Makely School for Girls 2. Beth – Home Stories A to Z 3. Gina – Shabby Creek Cottage 4. Beckie – Infarrantly Creative 5. Emily – Decorchick! 6. Wendy – The Shabby Nest

Its so easy to get caught up in just keeping up and then to ignore these opportunities that could easily end up making life better! I need to take this advice!! Can’t wait to hear what you take away from it! Wish I were going! Laura House Envy Reply
