UncategorizedOur Wedding Reception May 19, 2011For our wedding reception, we wanted to throw a great party. We saw it as a time to celebrate joining our lives together with our friends and family – what an awesome and worthy thing to celebrate! I wanted magic with twinkling lights, great food, great dancing band, and I think we did it! Our cake was one of my favorite parts. I had seen a picture of a similar cake in Bride’s Magazine. Our awesome cake lady took that and then designed the color and lace around my wedding gown. But, even having seen the picture, when I walked into the reception and saw it in person for the first time, it literally took my breath away. This is my favorite picture from the wedding. Our photographer caught us just as we bowed our heads for the prayer. Our first dance was to “Stand By Me,” one of my favorites. Chris is a great swing dancer. He was spinning and dipping me all over the floor and I loved every minute! Chris and I said throughout the planning process, that no matter what, we were going to enjoy our wedding and reception. We wanted to talk with everyone, dance A LOT, actually be able to sit down and eat, and try to avoid some of the busyness. Which of course, as the bride and groom, was hard to do. We didn’t get to talk to every single person there and we kept being pulled to go cut the cake, have our first dance, etc. But, we did sit down and eat and we did dance quite a bit. But, there wasn’t a whole lot of time to just sit and take it all in. The decorations, the flowers, the lights shining off the lake. But, late in the night, there was a distinct moment while I was dancing that I just stopped and looked around me. I saw the twinkling lights, I watched my friends and family laughing and dancing and the only word that came to my mind was “magic.” It was pure magic. And while all of this, the lights, the flowers, the beauty around us was exactly what I’d dreamed of, what truly made the magic was this: Me and my new husband, completely in love, celebrating with each other and our loved ones. After it was all said and done, Chris and I left in a boat: And left this behind: That was one magical night. But, here we are, one year out, and I must say…it just keeps getting better.
