UncategorizedInspired Design Challenge Week 4: Anthropologie End Table Inspired Bathroom Vanity August 4, 2013I had the best time at Haven this past weekend and even got to meet Angie from Angie’s Roost and Kristin from Bliss at Home. The only thing that could’ve made Haven better was if my two other lovelies from our Inspired Design Challenge had been there. But enough on Haven for now (I’ll have more on that tomorrow) and on to this week’s challenge. We all chose projects from Anthropologie. I am in love, like SERIOUSLY in love with this end table. {via} I love the rustic wood bottom paired with the white marble top. Y’all know what I love about this. Can we all say it together? CONTRAST. I wanted to make this end table for our living room, but before we got to decking out our living room, the master bathroom needed a vanity. If you’ll remember from the inspiration board, I wanted a work bench style. {see details on this board here} I had seen Anthropologie’s end table above before I made this board and loved the rustic wood with marble top. Y’all know I love pairing old and new. We started making our bathroom vanity a while ago, but just recently finished it up. Chris made the rustic bottom out of the same worn barn wood as our plank desk. I love the open shelf look on the bottom and the exposed plumbing. Now, I’m looking for some pretty baskets to put under there to disguise some of our stuff. I love the stone top from the inspiration table, but we came across this vanity top from IKEA and decided to go that direction. They don’t have it online any longer, but have some similar options like this one. Our sink was only $170 for the counter top and both sinks, so that was a great budget deal for us. Plus, I love the sleek modern white of the top mixed with the textured rustic wood of the bottom. My sweet husband made this vanity for me while I wasn’t around one day. I was so happy to come home to it nearly finished, but that also means I didn’t get pictures of the steps. So, so sorry y’all. I love how this project turned out, so I think we’re going to create a tutorial for it with pictures so that it’s easy to understand. I wanted y’all to see how it turned out though! Now the bathroom just needs a mirror and lights. I’m still figuring those out, but more on that to come! Here’s what inspired my fellow bloggers this week: 1. Angie from Angie’s Roost 2. Kristin from Bliss at Home (Kristin’s will be up on Wednesday) 3. Jennifer from Brave New Home 4. Sara from Embrace My Space Go say hello and check out their projects! I’ll be back tomorrow with some details on Haven. It was seriously the most amazing experience and I am dying to share!

My husband did a mini mudroom when I was out of town for a business trip so those are the best surprises. I also wanted to say it was a pleasure meeting you at Haven and I am so excited to go explore more of your blog. Have a fun week. Cheers! Reply

orlando ortega jr. says May 2, 2016 at 5:20 pm is there any wood treatment applied to the exposed barn wood on the edges . My question is what happens to the water that may splashes over to the exposed wood on top at the edges of the sink ? Will it mold eventually ? Reply
Lindsay says May 12, 2016 at 4:06 pm Orlando, we never had any issue with it. We didn’t apply any kind of treatment and this wood is actually weathered by being outside in the elements for a really long period of time, so I think you’d be good as long as pooled water didn’t sit on it? I’m not an expert though, but we loved it in our home! Reply
