UncategorizedDay 4: Party Table Linens July 5, 2012Alright y’all, I’m back with my advice on party table linens. To me, this is one of the biggest parts of planning a party. It can strongly contribute to a theme or take away from it depending on what you use. As I said in the Party Basics post, we chose white tablecloths to be our first layer of each party. This allows us complete flexibility with all of the other decor. The best advice I have for picking out the right party linens is to think outside the box. For example, for our Memorial Day party, I knew I wanted red white and blue, but something that felt different. I picked this red and white gingham and blue floral. This choice of fabric adds the country feel I was going for and they really made this party. They’re the best part of the decor. This gives the traditional red, white, and blue stars and stripes a fresh twist. With the nautical party, instead of the expected red, white, and blue, we went with navy and white ticking stripe and orange gingham napkins. Again, we tried for something a bit different than the expected. Now for my favorite part… My mom had read about using pinking shears to cut the fabric for the runner and the napkins so that you don’t have to sew them. Buying ready-made table runners and cloth napkins would get very expensive, especially when you are trying to do something a little different for every party. So, we found fabric that fit what we were going for and instead of sewing all of the edges, mom saved a lot of our time by cutting them with her pinking sheers. Ours were something like this… Using pinking sheers rather than regular scissors is supposed to keep them from fraying due to the zig-zag blades. And I’m happy to report, they were right! The linens held up great. So, for your future parties, find some fabric for your linens and give this a try. It gives you so many more options in your decor and saves so much time and money! I’ll be back tomorrow for our last day of the series…
