UncategorizedLooking Back on 2012 December 31, 2012I hope y’all had a wonderful Christmas with your families. We definitely did. I’m always a little blue when Christmas is over. I know a lot of people are ready for their routine to resume and get back to normal life, but not me. I long for Christmas all year. There is just something so wonderful about the season, magic almost. The season comes and goes way too quickly for me and this year was no different. When it was over, I was left wanting more! I haven’t brought myself to take down the decorations yet…I’ll get there, but I’m holding onto the last little bit of Christmas cheer. One thing that does bring me out of my little after Christmas funk is the New Year. There is just something refreshing about reflecting over the last year and setting goals for the next. Over the last few days, my husband and I have been talking about what a huge year 2012 was for us. Some of the changes were expected, but there were some surprises too. Here’s some of the big things that happened around here in 2012. We finished a lot of rooms in the house this year. We finished the Sunroom last spring. Our Master Bedroom got a little makeover in the summer. And our Guest Bathroom finally went from sad blue to bright white in the fall. In other blog news, we got our first big feature on The Lettered Cottage. I still can’t believe this one. You know it’s a good day when you open an e-mail from Layla Palmer asking to feature your Master Bathroom. We put our house up for sale in the fall. This was such a huge part of the year. Lots of late work nights getting it ready to list, lots of cleaning for showings, and lots of emotion throughout the whole process…from deciding to list our first home that we’ve loved to waiting for the right offer. We’ve had a lot of showings and talk of an offer so far, but no huge news on that front yet. Hopefully that’ll be a big start to 2013 for us! Another huge thing that happened this year was starting a shop with my mom and sister. This has been a dream for a long time and it was so fun to see it start off this year. I can’t wait to see where it heads this year. And one of my very favorite things of the year… Precious little Gracie came to be a part of our family last spring. Here she is on the day we brought her home. It brings joy to my heart. How has she grown so much in a few short months? Yes, she can reach the counter. No, she’s not full grown. Yes, I really, really love her anyway 🙂 Oh the joys of a sweet Great Dane. Didn’t I tell ya? A crazy year. We got a puppy (more work than I imagined, but so much love), refinished many rooms, listed our house for sale, started a business…wow I’m out of breath just typing that list! The only explanation for all that we accomplished this year and were blessed with is the Lord. He had bigger and better plans in store for us in 2012 than we ever imagined last New Year’s Eve. All of these exciting things came with their frustrations, disappointments, and really tough moments, but isn’t that life? Things are that much sweeter when you’ve really worked for it and how can we appreciate the peaks in life without the valleys? I have no doubt 2013 will be the same. I hope you all have a wonderful, magical, and fun time ringing in the New Year. I’ll be back tomorrow to tell you what I know, excuse me, what I THINK will happen around here in the next year. This year has definitely taught me to take it day by day and trust that God has it handled. Things always turn out better that way.
