UncategorizedDIY Advent Calendar November 27, 2014 One of my favorite parts of Christmas is the anticipation and counting down to the big day. Last year, I came up with a DIY Advent Calendar that helped us count down to the holiday by moving an ornament. You can see details of that calendar here. This year, I wanted to do something a little different with some meaning behind it. I hung two red beaded garlands with a DIY Yarn Garland in between. I used indigo blue, white, and gray yarn and braided it to create the middle garland. The paper doilies are from Michael’s. They came in a pack of 60 for $2.99. I used a gold paint pen and wrote out my numbers. Then, using ornament hooks, I hung them along the garlands. My vision was to use the doilies as ornaments. When each day comes, we’ll remove that ornament and place it on the small tabletop tree to the right. I’ve written each day’s Advent verse on the back of the doilies. Here are each day’s verses, if you want to do this yourself. So, as we remove the ornament and place it on the tree, we’ll take a minute to read that verse and pray together. I love how it turned out and cannot wait to the 1st to start using it and readjusting our perspective this Christmas to focus on the reason for the season, the Light of the World.
