UncategorizedWe Broke Ground April 23, 2013The addition has begun. Our backyard started out like this. Lovely, I know. I wanted to get out there with a sledgehammer and demolish these stairs myself. I hated them. Seriously…hated them. Right before I left to visit my sister, they poured the footings and the stairs were almost gone! I was gone five days. I got home and the backyard looked like this. What?! How does that happen in five days? This is just framed out and holes will be cut for windows, but it’s such a transformation already! Such progress 🙂 Do you love our fancy stairwell down to what will be the outdoor living area? I’m thinking of keeping it. Just what you need, right? Outdoor living and dining rooms complete with throw pillows, bright furniture, and string lights and a dangerous abstract staircase. Okay, maybe not. We caught Gracie trying to go down that and it was scary! It’s higher than it looks. I will admit, I was scared to go down this thing at first, but I’ve quickly mastered it. Now that this area is framed out, I’ve been out there a lot planning the outdoor space. Now I see what I have to work with. I can’t wait to start working on that and share my ideas with you soon! I’m getting ahead of myself, though. Back to the addition. Do you want to step inside? I know you’re dying to see it! Welcome to our master bedroom. We’re going for a calming, simplistic look. And our closets…can you see them? If you look really, really hard? No probably not, but that’s okay because in a month and a half, we’ll be moving in here. Yay! This is all moving so fast. I feel like I’m going to blink and it’s time to start putting pretties in place! In the next couple of weeks, the addition will be wired, plumbed, and sheet rocked. I’m so excited for the sheet rocking part because our dining room currently looks like this. Yes, it’s in the main living space that we’re very close to finishing, but since the whole back wall backs up to the addition and doors and windows are moving, we had to wait to finish this section. Oh, well, I’m hanging on. I’ll be throwing dinner parties here before you know it. At least that’s what I’m telling myself…
