UncategorizedLiving Room Pillows and a Giveaway December 6, 2012Alright y’all, welcome to Giveaway Day #4! Thanks so much to you guys for hanging in there with me each day and leaving the sweetest comments. It has made my day to read each and every one. I love this Giveaway because it is FINALLY giving me the opportunity to say thank you. You are appreciated and you brighten my day when we get to chat. Before we get to the Giveaway, I wanted to share our living room pillows this Christmas. I’ve changed things up a bit and I must say, I’m loving it! To all of you who know my white/neutral loving ways, this is going to be a shock… I went red. Well, a little bit red. But for me, that’s huge! For some reason, red has rubbed me the wrong way just a bit over the years, but I’ve embraced her this year. Just for comparison, here’s our living room normally and last Christmas: I love this huge gray “body pillow,” as Chris calls it. But it was just time for a change. I haven’t finished decorating the living room for Christmas and if you look really close, you’ll see some boxes and things that are a bit out of place. But hey, that’s life right? I really wanted to show you my pillows 🙂 Here’s the new couch pillows: The ticking stripe and red floral are from our shop, but the “Joy to the World” pillow is from Pottery Barn. I just love that one. I love the brown cozy fur throw with the pillows too…feels just right for colder weather. I am really loving the red pillows. Red, I think you’re my friend again. As I was taking these, Gracie decided that it was a terrible idea for her to not be included. And then these happened… And then, I gave in because she’s cute and these happened… Okay, enough puppy cuteness. Y’all know I could post those all day. Now onto today’s Giveaway. You may have guessed it by now, but today’s Giveaway will be one red floral pillow cover from the shop. I’m so excited to give this one away because I love it so much! To enter, a reminder of rules: And, today’s question…What is your favorite Christmas tradition? Mine might take a minute to describe, but I’ll try to be brief. Growing up, the Christmas Elf would pay us a visit about once a week leading up to Christmas (after Thanksgiving). The doorbell would ring, we would go running, and left on the doorstep was a brown paper bag. Inside was always some type of small Christmas goodie. It was often a book to read together, a Christmas movie, or a Gingerbread house. It was always something Christmas related to do together as a family. It was such a fun and exciting tradition. The Christmas Elf came to visit me last night. He left Ghiradelli Peppermint Bark and a Christmas yummy smelling candle. What a good husband Christmas Elf.

Jillian says December 6, 2012 at 10:07 pm Love that tradition! Right now, our 24 Advent books is my favorite tradition. I’m pretty sure I love reading them more than A loves listening to them 🙂 Reply
Shannon says December 6, 2012 at 10:27 pm Gracie has gotten huge!! So cute- I think I might have to go pick up a Joy to The World pillow from PB for my couch! Reply
Megan says December 6, 2012 at 10:32 pm We are blessed with a very large family and find ourselves incredibly busy around Christmas. We struggled last Christmas to find something that we could do just us. (It was our first Christmas as a married couple.) Anyway, last year we loaded up ourselves and Macy and went to look at Christmas lights on December 23. It’s our time to chill out, just talk, and go look at pretty Christmas decorations! Reply
Kate says December 7, 2012 at 9:29 am My favorite Christmas tradition is the grand stockings opening. Even though the knick knacks are small, my family tries to be very intentional and thoughtful — I really enjoy them more than presents! Reply
Kris says December 7, 2012 at 9:36 am I love how you’ve layered your couch. I think I need to go on the hunt for a fur throw. My favorite Christmas tradition is the kids Christmas program at church. When I was a kid–it was being it. Now I write it and direct it at our church. There are about 2 weeks that I’m a mess over it (the week I finish the script and two weeks before the show when we inevitably have a horrible rehearsal!). But the day the kids perform—it’s magic. Nothing beats sharing the story of Jesus’ birth from the mouths of babes!!! Reply
Stuart Goetke says December 7, 2012 at 11:20 am I am in love with the red pillows! We recently moved (down the street) and I decided to make our living room different shades of blue and red. We painted an accent wall a light blue and then our couch pillows are red, navy, coral, etc. So, I’m a big fan! At Christmas, we travel to Virginia Beach to visit our entire family. My favorite Christmas tradition is walking (at night) through my grandparent’s neighborhood to look at Christmas lights. On Christmas Eve and Christmas night, there’s nothing open and nowhere to be..so, I find it very relaxing to take a walk in the freezing cold to look at all the lights. 🙂 2 years ago it happened to be snowing! Fingers crossed for this year! Reply
Patty Page says December 7, 2012 at 2:55 pm Pretty pillow! My favorite tradition revolves around our nearest big city—Kansas City. Every year we load up the family and take our “sleigh” ride to see the famous Plaza lights. It’s always beautiful! Reply

Jennifer Dudley says December 7, 2012 at 4:18 pm I am a neutral girl too, but……..I am diggin the red!! Sometimes you just need a little color. Your living room looks super cozy. Give Gracie some smooches….she is a keeper. Reply
Rebecca Cash says December 7, 2012 at 7:04 pm It is honestly hard to pick just one tradition and since I am doing this backwards and just put a tradition as my comment for the Joy Napkins I have to come up with another one. I would have to say that I love our Christmas mornings. We take our dear sweet time opening presents. We eat cinnamon rolls, drink hot drinks, and talk around the fire while we are opening presents. It usually takes us hours upon hours. It is so much more special than just going crazy with the gifts. I feel like it makes us appreciate each one and not take anything for granted. It is crazy because Matt’s family is so different. They open their gifts in 30 minutes top. This year we are spending Christmas with my family and I know Matt is going to have a hard time adjusting 🙂 Reply
