UncategorizedChristmas Mantel 2012 December 4, 2012Thanks to all of you who commented yesterday! Remember, that Giveaway is still open, so keep commenting 🙂 I am so excited to share my Christmas mantel with you guys today. I wanted something different this year and although I used some of the same elements as last year, it is definitely different for me. Here’s what we came up with. I used our deer head art for the centerpiece and it established the vintage/distressed theme I love. Y’all know I’m no minimalist, so I wanted layers. I brought in an old washboard… …and a soda crate to add to that vintage feel. I decided to go with a bit of a “tree” theme. I used silver trees… …green tree candles… …and a few other little tree details. And of course, the two large silver trees on the hearth. I used these last year. I almost wanted to do something different, but I just love them here. And of course, our burlap stockings. I still love those. I’m going to add one with “G” for little Gracie, but just haven’t gotten there yet. I really love how it turned out. Vintage details with fresh cedar and candles…makes me happy 🙂 And of course, today’s Giveaway… One of my favorite parts about this mantel are the rustic wood touches. Today, we’ll be giving away one wood round platform. These are about 1.5″ thick and 12″ in diameter. These are so perfect for layering with candles, seasonal decor, or really anything. Adds a touch of rustic! Remember, here’s how to enter: And now for today’s question…to be entered, leave a comment answering, “What is your favorite Christmas movie and why?” As with Christmas songs, I love all Christmas movies really. I love the funny ones, Christmas Vacation. But my favorite probably has to be The Family Stone. I love anything that can make me laugh and cry. *** Today, I’m linking up to:
Devan says December 4, 2012 at 10:22 am Your mantel decor is absolutely gorgeous! I really love all the tree details – much better than Santas.. As for favorite Christmas movie, I would have to say Elf. I loved it when it first came out, but I was a teenager, so I thought that it was just kid humor, but every time I see it I remember how actually funny it is. Also, Zooey Deschanel is so adorable, I can’t pass up anything with her in it. Reply
Rebecca Cash says December 4, 2012 at 10:26 am Ugh choosing one favorite Christmas movie is hard! Growing up we had our collection of movies that we watched every single year as a family. We had so many movie nights around this season. So I can’t decide between Elf, Santa Clause, and Miracle on 34th Street. I am so excited you are giving one of these away. I love how versatile they are! Reply
Stuart Goetke says December 4, 2012 at 12:05 pm Hi Lindsay! I love reading your blog..it inspires me to decorate more! One of my friends used the wood platforms as centerpieces for her wedding (and she also had her cake on one as well!). Love how you added it into your mantel! My favorite Christmas movie of ALL time is Christmas with the Kranks. Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis are two of my favorites! The movie is somewhat cheesy and ridiculous, but it makes me laugh every time. 🙂 Reply

Kris says December 4, 2012 at 2:36 pm I’m new here . . . via the Lettered Cottage (and my newly ordered deer head art—swoon!). Love those tree rounds!! They would bring a fun layer to table decorations!!! As for Christmas movies, I have to admit, I’m kind of a sucker for the Christmas Carol remakes that they show on Lifetime. Especially Diva’s Christmas Carol (w/Vanessa Williams) and Ebbie (w/Susan Lucci). Cheesy–but fun! Reply
