UncategorizedHoliday Wrapping Ideas December 17, 2014 One of my favorite parts about getting our house ready for Christmas is wrapping the presents. I’ve mentioned this before, but one of my main love languages is gift giving. I love spending time figuring out thoughtful and “perfect” gifts for each person on my list. That can mean handmade, not necessarily (or rarely) something expensive, but I love it. Part of that gift-giving process for me is wrapping beautiful packages that are unique for each person. This year, I had the best time choosing wrapping supplies based off of our decor color scheme. I stuck to mainly red and navy, but peach and turquoise definitely made their appearance! Here are some of my go-to wrapping tricks that you can customize for your color scheme and for the loved ones in your life. Start with a Neutral Base I like mixing papers and I especially love mixing ribbons and gift tags, so neutral papers to layer on top of are usually what I gravitate towards. This year, I used basic white wrapping paper for the majority of gifts. But, as you can see, some tan and white tribal got worked in. We had it left over from last year and I decided, why not?! Use a Variety of Ribbons and Trimmings The ribbon is my favorite part! I had the best time choosing ribbons in my color scheme this year. I like layering them and having different options, so I always choose some thick, some thin, and some with a print or in this year’s case: GLITTER. I love the glitter ribbon! This year, I even brought in some yarn. I am loving the texture on this one! Think Outside the Gift Tag Box This year, I picked up a variety of scrapbook papers in my color scheme and cut them in different shapes and sizes for gift tags. I had fun with plaids, woods, and different patterns. I customized them with gold paint pens and stick-on letters that I had and then wrote the personal message on the back. Create Custom Paper This year, I had the idea to create my own custom wrapping paper! I know there are a lot of sites where you can do this with family or favorite photos. I relied on my trusty Staples Engineer Prints to do the job. They blow up any photo (black and white only) to 36″ x 48″ for $3. Now, I know you can get an entire roll of paper for that sometimes. But if you want a really custom look, that price was worth it for me for a really special package. It would be so sweet with some kids photos! Treat Each Gift as Unique! This year, I really had fun considering who each gift was for and customizing each package. I think that the wrapping can be part of the special gift! For example, my dad got the red ribbon, leather, and plaid above. While, my sweet sister got the printed paper and teal glitter ribbon. It felt so girly and fun! My sweet mama got a little peach thrown in and some peach glitter letters that I had lying around. Man, I had fun wrapping these gifts! Now, I want to buy more just to wrap. Or…maybe it would be smarter just to wrap up some empty boxes, haha. My last tip: Make a Tradition Out of Gift Wrapping Set up a Christmas Wrapping Station in your living room. Turn on a good Christmas movie and brew a hot cup of cocoa and wrap away! Whether you’re by yourself or you can convince the hubby to join you, I promise it’ll be a fun Christmas-filled evening and you will love creating sweet little custom packages perfect for everyone on your list!

But as my little gets older I just am finding less and less time to stop to do those kinds of things. It’s basically meditation, though! Reply

I’m kinda obsessed with what I have this year…. a little plaid, a little pattern! You know, it would be super cute to do a custom wrapping paper for a birthday! Oh my, I might just make that happen!
