UncategorizedDIY Christmas Ornaments November 25, 2013Happy Monday! Y’all, I cannot believe it’s the week of Thanksgiving. We spent the weekend decorating for the upcoming Christmas tour, which I NEVER do before Thanksgiving. But I am loving already having the tree up. I took my inspiration for DIY ornaments from last week and got crafting this weekend. Remember my inspiration board for the Christmas tour? Anthro Christmas Lodge. So, I took some glitz, plaid, and rustic and got busy. I used a base of these cheap paper mache ornaments from Hobby Lobby. They’re 99 cents. I have some plaid fabrics in different colors saved up, but for the glitz, I bought some jewels from Hobby Lobby’s jewelry making section. These reminded me so much of Anthropologie’s jewelry, which I love! And they were 50% off, so only a few dollars each. I was going to take photos and do an entire tutorial, but it seriously is this simple: 1.) Hot glue fabric or paper of your choice onto ornament for background. 2.) Hot glue on jewel or focal point of ornament. I said I was going for a simple, handmade Christmas, right? While I loved many from the round-up the other day, I know some of them would’ve taken an hour or more. I was looking for five minute DIY’s. Here’s what I came up with. And my very favorite… Wool plaid and some crystal and gold. Love it. I bought some birch wood rounds from Michael’s for a rustic touch and layered on one of the medallions onto some wood. Perfect mix of rustic and glitz for me. I layered on a gold glitter J (last initial) cut from scrapbook paper onto plaid. This one is front and center on our tree. To bring in a little more rustic, I hot glued some feathers onto one of the ornaments. And I loved it so much that I actually decided to tie pheasant feathers onto the tree. They’ve turned out to be my favorite part. Tomorrow, I’m going to talk about those garlands 🙂 Are y’all decorating for Christmas yet? Or holding out until Thanksgiving?
