UncategorizedOur Summer Mantle June 11, 2012Happy Monday, y’all! I hope you had a great weekend. Well, this has drug on a bit longer than I’d hoped, but I am so excited to post it! Hang tight, there’s going to be a lot of pictures coming up. Here we go: I really like how the word art turned out. I knew that I wanted to use driftwood. I had planned to lay it out around the glass and shells on the mantle, but the wall looked pretty empty. I’m used to having something up there. Remember our spring mantle? I decided to keep the vases, but change out the branches for driftwood. Then I used different colors of glass. It reminded me of sea glass. I filled them with sand and some different shells. I used some ball jars and of course, candles. I don’t know what it is, but candles just make everything prettier. We have this canister with corks from our wedding. Corks feel summery to me, so it took center stage. I love using something that has meaning in our decorations! I used these galvanized lanterns from Pottery Barn on the hearth. Overall, I love how it turned out and it has just the coastal/summery feel I was going for. Thanks for hanging in there with me on this one! I hope y’all like it! Tomorrow, I’ll be posting a tutorial on the word art. It was so easy and I think it pulls this mantle together really well. Have y’all seen The Lettered Cottage’s summer decorating link party? I’ll definitely be linking up here next Monday.

I love both your summer and spring mantels; I love the idea of pitchers with driftwood – I put a couple of pitchers on my summer mantel, but didn’t put anything in them. The wood art is beautiful!
