Home DecorA Start on Baby Boy’s Nursery January 24, 2017I’ve had so much fun starting to dream about a fun room for our sweet baby boy. I knew the overall feel that I wanted, but haven’t gotten a big start on it yet with the holidays and sickness we’ve faced. But now, I’m so excited to dive in and create a happy space for him. For every space I design, I love really thinking through who the room is for and how it’ll be used. While I’m still nailing down the function of the room, I know the overall feel I’m going for. I’m going for an overall rustic vibe. Think plaid, woodland animals, camping, and all things outdoors. I want to layer on a whimsical vibe to the rustic base to make it perfect for a fun little boy. This room below really sums up the feel I’m loving for our little man. {via} I started searching for finds for his room and came across this quilt that really represented the feel I was going for. We already got this buffalo quilt in and it’s amazing! I love the idea of using buffaloes in his room and they really bring in that rustic vibe. But the little birds and triangles give it that whimsical feel I’m going for. Now that I have it, I’m using it to inspire the rest of the space! I’m still nailing down the rest of the room design, but put together a little mood board to capture the overall feel. Buffalo Check Curtains | 2. Deer Skin Printed Crib Sheet | 3. Gray Velvet Glider (from Rosie’s current room) | 4. Campfires art | 5. Stuffed Bear | 6. Red Persian Rug | 7. Rustic Buffalo Photograph | 8. Pacific Northwest Poster | 9. Camping Plaque Some of these items might appear in the actual nursery! I’m still nailing that down. I’m picturing a red persian rug that brings in some other colors from around the room. I used this photo I had of our bedroom rug for the mood board to get the overall feel. Then, I love the idea of doing plaid curtains. I’m thinking buffalo check right now, but may go with a more true plaid. It just depends on what fabric I find as I start really searching! I’ll be using the wood and white crib from Rosie’s room, which means she’ll be getting a big girl room soon! More to come on that! But I love bringing in a natural wood element in every room, especially in this boy’s room. I’ll also be bringing in the gray velvet glider from Rosie’s room for all of the rocking and nursing that will need to happen with a new baby. For artwork, I love the big vintage photograph with buffaloes in it. I’m also loving these other vintage-inspired finds to put in a gallery wall or spread around the room. And the stuffed bear has such a whimsical and fun feel. I actually picked it up at Target already, so it’ll definitely be showing up in his room. As far as the wall color, I’m still nailing that down in my mind. I usually like to design most of the room and then choose the paint color as a backdrop. White’s always an option, but I’m really loving the olivey-greens in these nurseries I’ve had pinned forever and think they’d be such a rich, pretty backdrop to the finds above. {via} {via} Oh I’m so excited to start really working on this space! I’ll share more developments as I find them for our sweet man’s room. *** That’s been The White Buffalo motto for the last three years and is still what I’m striving to do each day in our home and with our family. Yes, that often means tablescapes, inspiring interiors, and fun before and after renos. But it also means family. Faith. Joy. Struggles. Laughter. Health. You’ll find a little bit of all of that here as I share how we’re choosing to live with both style and purpose. A huge part of that is our journey toward a more natural life that’s focused on enjoying each and every moment together. A huge thanks to my main blog sponsor that makes this dream of mine possible:

Megan says January 30, 2017 at 10:26 pm Just stumbled upon this post! its so similar to my little mans nursery that we are finishing up. We did a dark green (BM Chimichurri) paint color, found super cute Buffalo Check black and white curtains from Land of Nod, the woodland animals quilt from Little Unicorn, and have that same Target bear! Can’t wait to see how your nursery turns out! Reply

It’s been so much fun designing for a little one because you can go a little more whimsy and wild and it be ok. 🙂 http://dahliasanddimes.com/2017/02/03/kitchen-sconce-obsession-roundup/ Reply

Charlotte Lindsay says March 31, 2017 at 6:25 pm So many cute ideas, I can not wait to see how they all come together. I think that layering a plethora of fun textiles with different textures will really bring this space to life. I also think that a tee-pee would work really well in this room, if not now then when he is a bit older. They are a great home decor touch; stylish and fun for the kiddos. Reply
