UncategorizedWhite Buffalo Changes – I Need Your Help! March 11, 2014 Well, y’all, I can’t believe it, but The White Buffalo has now been around for six months. In some ways, it seems longer. Way longer. And in other ways, I dreamed of something like this for so long and I can’t believe it’s finally happened, much less been up and running for six months! When I started The White Buffalo, I had a dream that it would be a place where I would share my style journey and help others find theirs. I want it to be a place that celebrates all styles and provides inspiration. Read more about my vision for The White Buffalo here. In many ways, I’ve done this, or am at least working towards it. Blogger Stylin’ Home Tours has been a huge success and there will be more installments of that. Finding Style Fridays is going strong and I love sharing other bloggers’ style journeys. But White Buffalo still has room to grow. In fact, it probably always will! There are a lot of changes and ideas in the works for the next few months that will be taking White Buffalo more and more towards my dream. I want to first be open and honest with you guys about that because you’re invested here too. You come here and check in and I hope, leave inspired. But these changes will affect you and I want to keep you “in the know” as much as possible. But I also want to include you in this process because I want your feedback! So much of my vision for White Buffalo is inspiring others and I can’t gauge that on my own. I want and need your suggestions and your feedback! I have a little, short survey at the end that I would love for you to fill out and give me your opinion. My goal with this blog is not to be everything to everybody. I mean, that’s not possible! But I do want to do what I can to not only fulfill my dreams with the brand, but also meet your needs. But first, let me give you a little background information. So, here are some coming changes: The first thing on the list is the layout and function of this site. I loved the new site when I created it six months ago and I still do! It’s not at all that I’m tired of it and want a change already. But after living with it for six months and hearing from some of you, I want to make it better. What will that include? A more editorial feel Don’t worry, I will still be a blog. But I will be going with a more professional, editorial layout. Why? The biggest reason is that I want the content to be easier to find and more accessible to all of you. Not just my newest content, but all content by category. The feel of the new site also fits where I’m headed with White Buffalo. A blog yes, but also site or hub with styling tips, how-to videos, real-life homes, etc. presented in an organized way. An editorial layout will provide you with several ways to experience our content. You will still be able to read blog posts in order, beginning with the most recent. But, you’ll also be able to peruse drop-down menus that takes you to every post written in a category or a specific feature. There will be resource pages where similar content is gathered. So the focus will no longer be solely on most recent content, but all content will be featured in a way. This new layout will be going up in several weeks, so if there things look a little weird for a few days, do not worry! It’ll all be straightened out and better than ever. But this immediate change was what sparked this need for feedback. There will be some changes to the content , but don’t worry. They will not be drastic changes to the type of content I will offer. But you will see more specific content and more structured content. My goal is not to become an impersonal site with styling tips. I will still maintain a personal voice and give you guys some personal updates. Here is a big area where I want your feedback. I want to know what kind of posts you love. What would you love to see more of? What are you inspired by? What brings you here? This area is still a little fuzzy. But I’m developing some ideas that I’ll really begin working with this summer and I’d love to hear your reactions. I’ve been hesitant to just jump into the areas below because I still want to maintain the blog. Now that White Buffalo has really gotten into a groove, I can feel the time coming to continue the blog (and make it even better), but also branch out into some new directions. Services The plan when I started White Buffalo was to offer online styling services for specific projects. That is definitely still a thought and a part of the plan. What do you think? Would you hire me to help you style your home or plan a themed party? Styling Courses/Tutorials One thing that has been suggested to me by some readers is to offer styling courses or tutorials (in addition to blog content) that people can sign up for. I love this idea, but know that it would be a long process to build that. But I am definitely open to it! Basically, I would offer a course on finding your specific style (style analysis) or specific, short courses on styling certain areas of your home or planning the perfect party. Hopefully, you’d learn some new things from the course and then go on to plan your own room redo or party. Curated Shop I’ve been tossing around the idea of offering a White Buffalo Shop. It would be a curated (things I’ve found and put together, not handmade by me) collection of all things White Buffalo. Here, you could expect things like antlers, navajo, vintage jewelry, cool prints, etc. The main goal for that would be STYLISH AND REASONABLY PRICED. I’ve made no final decisions on any of the categories above, but they are thoughts and I’d love to know what you think. No promises of what is to come, but there’s a glimpse at where White Buffalo might be headed! If you could take just one quick minute to fill out this survey, I’d be ever so grateful! Please give me your honest, thoughtful feedback. I want to better meet your needs as I make content decisions and begin thinking about offering specific things. Did you take it? Here’s one more shot. And now a huge thank you to you guys. #1 for taking the survey. #2 for being here and investing in my journey. To say a big thank you, I’ll be giving away a $25 World Market gift card to one of you who takes my survey 🙂 I want to provide a little thank you for taking the time and giving me thoughtful feedback. Just leave a comment telling me that you took it and I’ll randomly choose one winner next week! *** In the spirit of giveaways, make sure you entered the Gypsy Soul Collective Bangle giveaway.
