UncategorizedUnexpected Color Combinations April 6, 2015As I’m searching for design inspiration for the new house, one thing I keep being drawn to are unexpected uses of color. While I tend toward white walls, I’ve always loved using pops of color. But I’m feeling the need to push the boundaries a bit on the next project. I want to combine unexpected colors and have some fun with saturated bright hues. Here are some of the brave uses of color I’m most excited about right now. My friend Gwen from The Makerista just painted her playroom fireplace yellow. It’s so beautiful, fun, and brave. She paired it with a red velvet tufted sofa and the primary color combo is so chic with her white walls and black and white accents. And do you guys follow Kimberly from Swoon Worthy? She has some seriously inspiring spaces and doesn’t shy away from popping in some serious color. She just revealed her new living room and the fuschia and olive combo has me “swooning.” Sorry, I couldn’t resist. And Jenny Komenda of Little Green Notebook has always been a style icon for me. She is the queen of color and using it in just the right way. While simple, this is one of my favorite color combos I’ve seen. Dark teal walls, coral headboard, peach and mint. This one may be making an appearance in the new house 🙂
