StyleTrend Spotting: The Fox November 21, 2013The fox is literally everywhere right now. {via} I’ve seen it around for a while, but while I was looking for my Christmas inspiration this year, I couldn’t believe how many foxes I came across. I really am loving it. The meaning behind animals and objects is really important to me and I have to say, even though I loved all of the fox products I was seeing, I didn’t have a great opinion of poor Mr. Fox. So, I did a little research. And I did find that a fox can represent a trickster and a deceiver. Didn’t love that. But then, I also came across that in legend, the fox represents a teacher who assists in you swiftly finding your way. Okay, I love that and can now buy into the trend. I know it may be ridiculous that the meaning was important to me, but I love filling my home with meaning, so that just makes me love it even more. I’m definitely planning to bring in a little fox or two with my Christmas decorating and wanted to share some of my very favorites with you. Target is killing the fox trend. I love this gorgeous fox tray. {via} I have a little DIY planned on this one 🙂 This brass barware is really beautiful. {via} {via} …these would be great gifts! And my last fox favorite from Target is this wooden fox figurine. {via} It provides a lot of personality in a little vignette. My other favorite fox source this season (no surprise here) is Anthropologie. They have several fox printed pillows that make me happy. {via} I love their quirky fox door knocker. {via} I still want this for our front door! And this colorful fox art is pretty fun too. {via} I’m really big on not loving something just because it’s trending, but Mr. Fox, you’ve won me over. This really makes me think of the song, What Does the Fox Say. Is it sad that that makes me like it even more?

Trina @ Let's Just Build a House says November 21, 2013 at 2:57 pm It’s funny how animals play into trends every year. I feel like last year it was owls. I love the fox trend, mostly because we have a little red fox down by our creek that pokes his head out once in awhile while we are outside working. He is a cutie. I especially love that last print. So prett. Reply
Kari @ The Sunset Lane says November 21, 2013 at 3:57 pm My maiden name is Fox, so I am totally obsessed! I bought the fox from Target for $7 on clearance the other day. My mom came to visit and loved it. She asked what i paid for it and I told her. After she left, I noticed there was $7 in the place where the fox had been sitting and she called from the road to tell me she had stolen it 🙂 I have a fox door knocker too, but I bought this one: http://www.houseofantiquehardware.com/antique-door-hardware-brass-fox-knocker because it was way cheaper then the anthropologie one! 🙂 Eventually I will be a better blogger and takea pic of it! Julia@Cuckoo4Design says November 21, 2013 at 8:49 pm As you know me, I love any animal so the fox is welcome in my home. And the red fox makes me think of Germany because we had so many. Love them and they are so cute! Reply
Meghan says November 22, 2013 at 3:09 am Loved the background on the fox! Having been previously engaged to a Mr. Fox (literally), I can attest to the trickery and deceit – BUT – I can also attest to the teaching, as well. I wouldn’t be where I am today had I not learned a LOT from that time in my life. I think I’ll hold off on the fox decor for now, but I do love the little wooden figurine! Reply
carmel says November 22, 2013 at 1:33 pm Oh my gosh – my kids love that song! Loving foxes – been loving them for awhile – totally bought my hub that shaker for Christmas and couldn’t help but give it to him early – I keep doing that!! He’s not going to have anything to open on Christmas days. Reply

Carole@Rustic Artistry says November 22, 2013 at 11:38 pm In my area of New Jersey fox hunting (on horses, with hounds) is very popular and lots of people have fox decorations in their homes. We just inherited a life size garden statue of a fox and cub from a friend’s father, as well as 2 fox pictures and a set of fox coasters. They really are a beautiful looking animal. Reply
