UncategorizedThe Party April 14, 2011I spent this past weekend with five great girls celebrating and honoring this one: Ashley and her bridesmaids showed up on Friday night. We started out with an Italian themed Welcome Dinner featuring Ashley’s favorite type of food! I had a lot of fun with this tablescape. I made placemats out of music pages (I talked about Ashley and Daniel’s music interests here). Then to personalize things, I made monogrammed chalkboard flower pots to hold the napkins. Ashley was excited about these because they can leave it monogrammed, or erase and use it however they like! After a relaxing and fun day together on Saturday, we had Ashley’s shower! It was so much fun and I think the bride really loved it all. We ate lots and lots of dessert! And each girl got a cute flower pin that you see there on the table. I made these stackable cakestands from some Anthropologie plates and thrift store candlesticks. Tutorials for them, the chalkboard frame, placemats and other fun shower goodies coming soon! I had Daniel, Ashley’s fiance, answer some funny and sweet questions about Ashley and then we gave her the quiz too, sort of like the Newlywed game. Ashley won of course – it was so cute, many of their answers were the same word for word! Here I am keeping score (I have on my poker face – I couldn’t give her any hints!): It was such a special weekend filled with lots of fun surprises for the bride, but I think the best part of all was during the shower when each girl shared a message with Ashley. We each told her our favorite memory with her, what we loved most about her, and our advice as she starts this new time in her life. How awesome it was to be able to pour into Ashley and bless her as she starts the most important season of her life. I am so excited for her and thankful for the special friendship we’ve developed. When I shared my favorite memory of me and Ashley, I said that there were so many from when we were little, but my very favorites are the memories that we’re making now. When we were little, we were friends because we were sisters and always together. But, as we’ve grown older, we’re choosing to be best friends because of how much we enjoy each other and how much we love one another. These were the sweetest girls and we had the best time just spending time together and talking. I’d say the party was a success!
Kristina! says April 14, 2011 at 2:24 pm You know how to throw a party! Better than me. I typically don’t decorate my parties unless they’re for a special occasion, but you’ve inspired me! I can’t wait for Kurt’s big 30th birthday this year. It’s gonna be decked out! 😀 My favorite is probably the music sheet placemats. I sooo want that, just for every day use in my home! Can’t wait for the tutorial! Reply
