Renovations, The Buffalo BurrowThe Burrow Wide-Plank Floors March 20, 2020 This is a sponsored post with Twenty & Oak. All opinions are 100% my own. Friends, I am writing this post from our dining table in our new home! If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve seen the play-by-play and know we’ve moved. It was a marathon getting the house finished and us packed, but we’re so happy to be here now and rest. There’s plenty to still do, but it’s livable and WE’RE HOME. We’ve officially been working on this house for a year now, but it’s been a dream for much longer. Seeing this home I poured over and designed every detail of come together has been so exciting. And I am so excited to share all the details with y’all as this home continues coming together. One of the things I was most excited about in this house were the floors, as y’all know. These gorgeous, wide-planked light floors from Twenty & Oak are a dream. They’re in the Veranda by Palmetto Road line. They’re a part of their gorgeous Charleston Collection and the color is Cottonfield. It is the loveliest white-washed finish. In case you missed the past posts on these, you can check them out here: DESIGNING THE BURROW COLOR PALETTE CHOOSING OUR FLOORS OUR FLOOR INSTALLATION I spent so much time choosing the right floors. As I said in our house design plan post, we’ve always had original floors in our houses and haven’t ever had a choice there. I was so excited to get to pick some awesome character-enhancing floors for this project. It was so exciting to see them installed, but they had to be immediately covered to keep the project moving. There was zero time to take them in and enjoy them! And since we got to remove the paper a week ago, that’s all I’ve been doing! Without further ado, here they are, friends. And here’s the first real look into our mostly finished Burrow. We’re going to take our time collecting just the right pieces for this home, but we went ahead and set up spaces for us to enjoy as we hunt and make a home. As soon as we uncovered these floors last week and walked around looking at them with the paint and other finishes, I was sold. I told Chris immediately that these have officially ruined me for any other floors! They are just so special and so unique. I’ve never had “special” floors. They’ve always just been traditional wood floors that were fine, but didn’t really contribute to the house design. And they’re a HUGE surface in your house! They’re the backdrop to every space. Knowing we got to choose floors this time around, I was so excited to find some aged-feeling floors that played a vital role in the design and feel of the house. I was hoping to find a wide-plank floor that felt white-washed and aged. I loved the idea of a creamy backdrop in the house with layers, textures, and richness layered on top. I’ve always had darker floors that served as the richness in my space. These Cottonfield floors checked every single box! They’re wide-plank. They’re wire-brushed by hand, so they have an age and texture to them. Many floors like this are wire-brushed by a machine to mimic wear and it can look like a pattern and pretty fake. These feel so natural and original. They were the exact look that I wanted, but the fact that they’re such high quality with a 50-year warranty made this a no-brainer. I love them with the creamy white we have throughout most of this house: Sherwin Williams Bohemian Lace. And I love how they look against the fireplace. There are several spots in the house where we went with accent colors instead of white. While I love how these floors play with creamy white walls, I think I like them even better against the bit of color we brought in. Here’s a look at our master bedroom! Just like the living room, this room is just set up “for now.” But that lovely white iron bed and the Sherwin Williams Unusual Gray walls will stay of course. Aren’t they so pretty together? And can we just talk about the floors with that blue? We haven’t put hardly any rugs down yet, but I don’t want to cover up these floors at all. And y’all know I love my rugs, so that’s saying a lot! I love the dimension that they have. They feel light and white-washed, but there’s a lot of dimension to them. The dark knots and lines are what really make these stand out to me. We’re doing olive doors throughout the house and I nailed that down early on. I worked to choose a floor that wouldn’t just look good with my whites, but that would look great with the olive doors and black accents. Success! The doors are Sherwin Williams Conduit Grey. They’re the perfect balance of olive and putty/gray to me. And they’re made even prettier by these floors! I love anchoring a space with some dark accents. But I tend to sway more light than dark. I like my dark accents to be small and powerful instead of an entirely dark space. I absolutely love how these lighter floors make our olive doors and black accents stand out even more. While we’re planning to take our time furnishing and finishing all the spaces in this house, I’m so anxious and giddy to see these spaces finished and layered on top of my floors. As special as these floors are, you know from my previous posts that it wasn’t an easy decision! Twenty & Oak has so many amazing options and I was so happy I found them as we went through this journey! They have such high-standards and all of the samples we checked out were amazing. They have the best selection of high-quality floors in different finishes and budgets. If you’re in the market for flooring, I can’t recommend Twenty & Oak enough. Use the code BUFFALO to get six free samples ( instead of the usual three) so you can see the different colors and options for yourself! Once you check out your samples, make sure you use Twenty & Oak’s Find a Dealer page to find the closest local dealer to you. Our closest dealer was Greer Flooring Center. We went into the store to see the samples in person and it was so helpful! They’re experts and were so helpful in answering our questions. And when they came to install the floors, they were incredible. For more details on these floors and a closer look at our house, make sure you check out the video tour below! A HUGE thanks to my friends at Twenty & Oak and Greer Flooring Center. After all of our big renovations, floors were a pretty new territory for us. They made this such a fun process for us and we are thrilled with these dream floors here in our dream home!

Bliss says March 20, 2020 at 7:22 pm The floors look beautiful! We have been going back and forth over replace our 25 year old hardwood or refinish. I think we are currently at refinish, oh but to have a hand scraped floor, dreamy! Reply
