UncategorizedThe Best of 2011 and Looking to 2012 January 2, 2012Well, 2011 has held some amazing things for our family. Chris and I sat down yesterday and planned out our goals for 2012, but before I share those, I want to recap a little of our favorite projects and happenings from 2011. 2011 held a lot of home renovations for us, some big projects and some small. Here are my three favorites: 1.) Living Room and Dining Room This room still needs more finishing touches, but I’m liking where it’s headed. We spend most of our time in here hanging out together, so I really enjoy this room coming together. 2.) Guest Room/Office There’s still a lot more to go in here…lamps as you can see and the office portion against the window. But this room was so bad before that this progress really brightens everything up. And my favorite of all…. 3.) Our Master Bathroom Renovation So, there’s my few favorites from 2011. What to expect in 2012? We have a lot of goals for the house and otherwise and I really can’t wait to get started. As far as house projects go, here’s what we’re planning to work on… 1.) Hallway – We are going to redo our hallway that connects all of our bedrooms. We are going to close off our master bedroom and master bath to create some semblance of a master suite. And of course, we’ll paint and decorate it all. 2.) Guest Bedroom – We have a third guest bedroom that has no updates since we moved in except throwing our stuff in. It’s painted bright blue and none of our stuff matches, so I’ll be ready to see that go. 3.) Guest Bathroom – We’re going to tackle our other bathroom this year. I absolutely can’t wait for this project. When I post some before photos, you’ll see why. It’s rough…really rough. 4.) Deck – We have a huge deck on the back of our house, but it needs some major refinishing and some furniture. We’re going to re-stain the deck and build some furniture to eat and lounge on. I love being outside and how nice it’ll be to have a place to gather outside at our home. 5.) Organization – This is more of a general one, but since we bought a foreclosure, we moved in and got right to work. That meant stuffing some things in corners and in the basement until we could deal with them. I’m hoping to tackle some of that this year. I feel frustrated with the clutter now and ready to get it taken care of! We’re definitely going to put some finishing touches on other things, but these are the biggies. Beyond house projects, we’re focusing on some financial goals, developing more healthy habits, taking some trips together, and continuing to focus on our spiritual growth as a couple. We’re reading this book together and having a weekly discussion about each chapter… I’m really excited about this and what we can learn together. I’m excited about our resolutions and getting started. From what I can expect from 2012, I think it’s going to be a great year. And I’m sure there are some surprises along the way. So, happy 2012! Thanks for continuing on this journey with me.
