UncategorizedOur New Addition April 23, 2012Well, I’m getting this out a little later than I hoped, but we’ve been pretty busy with this new addition. We are so excited to welcome Gracie to our little family. Gracie is our seven week old Great Dane puppy. I’ve been researching this breed for quite a while (thanks to my friend, Kristina, who introduced us to this breed!). We really wanted a big dog that looks intimidating, but is actually one of the sweetest, most gentle dogs. Everyone we talked to and all of the research we did led us to this little girl. We brought her home yesterday and we feel like we have a baby. With very little sleep last night, we’re trying to get her acclimated to her new home. This is what we’ve learned about her so far…. She loves her new pillow. Every time we’re missing her, this is where we can find her. She sleeps, a lot. We were missing her yesterday and found her here. Do you see her? She’s the little black blob between the chair and the door. We thought she must’ve felt comforted here. So sweet. She likes to play too and we’re having fun watching her play with her toys. Chris is having a good time messing with her. I can’t believe that in another few weeks, I won’t be able to do this anymore. I was telling Chris yesterday how much I loved holding her and he said, “Well, you definitely picked the wrong dog breed!” Very true, but I’m so excited for her size and watching her grow. I’m just trying to enjoy her little cute puppy phase as much as I can. We love her so much already and are so excited to bring her into our family. I’ll definitely share some more info and pics as she grows. Hope y’all had a great weekend! If you’ll notice the door behind us in the picture above, I’m going to be back with some details on this new front door tomorrow.
Megan Shipman says April 24, 2012 at 8:57 am Welcome to the world of furry children! I really feel like I love my dog, Macy, more than I should. I am glad that you compared having a puppy to having a child. Macy is going on four years old, and I still feel like I am raising a toddler. I am so happy for you guys! I remember how great it was to cuddle with a puppy. If Gracie turns out like Macy, you may be cuddling with her for years to come, regardless of size! Reply
Kristina says April 24, 2012 at 11:07 am I love her already! She is absolutely precious and I can’t wait to meet her. Yes, puppies are like babies, and need to sleep a lot. And they do like cave-like places to sleep … Swift sleeps with his under the coffee table on a regular basis (just his head! Weirdo). I’m so excited for y’all! Reply
