UncategorizedOur Front Door July 19, 2012Today, I’m still talking about doors. I posted the outside view of our front door here. We’ve decided to keep the color for now and have finally razor bladed the glass. But I never officially showed in from the inside. Some of you noticed in my summer mantle post that the front door was different. Here’s what it used to look like: Of course I forgot to take one straight on, but in this picture you can see that it’s all white with the old fashioned angle window at the top. So not bad, but it just blends in with the trim. Here’s the picture that I posted in our summer mantle: I think it’s a huge difference! We were going to paint it white, but decided to leave the dark wood finish that was on it when we got it. It looks really dark, almost black, in this picture, but it’s dark stained wood. We have some dark wood accents in this room, so this ties with that. I think this makes it more of a focal point instead of painting it white. Here it is straight on: It’s one of my favorite parts in our living room now 🙂
Kelly @ Talk of the House says July 19, 2012 at 2:53 pm Whoa! What a BIG difference. It’s like you got to install a door AND a window all in one! I think leaving it dark is a good accent too. Nice job!(My husband said I would build a glass house if he would let me…so I REALLY love that your door lets in so much more light.) Reply
Kristina says July 19, 2012 at 3:24 pm I love it left as-is–such a good accent. And such a great door! I’m so jealous. We have the same kind of door as your old one and it’s white. I’m thinking of painting it yellow so it doesn’t blend in with the trim so much. Reply
Lindsay says July 20, 2012 at 10:54 am Thanks, Kristina! I definitely think painting it yellow would look great and would fix the problem I had with ours. More than not liking the door, I hated how it just blended in from inside, but was pretty big on the wall. Does that make sense? Paint yours yellow and send pics 🙂 Reply

Lindsay says July 20, 2012 at 10:54 am Hi Nicole! Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with the other door. We got this one for free and I love it, but I think you can definitely make the other work until you do something else 🙂 Reply
