Home DecorOffice/Playroom Design Inspiration March 10, 2016If you missed yesterday’s post introducing the office/playroom project, make sure you check it out first. When I first started planning this room, I wasn’t sure how to tackle it. Designing a fun playroom and an inspiring adult office space didn’t seem to go together. I started thinking about the goals for both spaces and realized that at the base, they’re the same. I want both spaces to inspire us to be creative. I want inspiration that will fuel my creative work. I want little Rosie’s space to inspire imagination and creative play. Same goal, so how do I make that feeling a reality in the room in a way that fits my style and is kid-friendly? No surprise here, but I realize the first step is bringing in a lot of color and pattern. So much of my work is inspired by Emily Henderson, but two spaces she’s designed in particular are really inspiring this room for me. The first is her L.A. studio. There is so much color and pattern going on. It’s bright, happy, and is a place I’d just love to spend time in! I’d love to work here and I could definitely see Rosie being inspired to play in here. {see her exclusive studio tour here} I think pulling in mixed color and pattern like this automatically makes it a more kid-inspiring spot, but doing it in a little bit more of a sophisticated way makes it work for mama too. The ban.do studio house (also designed by Emily Henderson) stopped me in my tracks. It’s super playful and fun, which makes complete sense for that brand. But I was inspired to create by just looking at the photos! Imagine being there! I’m planning to bring in a little whimsy and FUN that I think will really amp up our creative space. I love all of the fun elements and especially love this quote below. {see the full ban.do studio tour here} {via} The style I’m going to be bringing in most heavily is a little Moroccan. Wait, I’m going with a boho-vibe? I know…shocker. But I fell so in love with this room above as soon as I saw it. While it’s definitely a kids’ room and is very kid-friendly and fun, I loved it too. I’ve wanted a boucheourite rug for years now and I love the mix of it with the floral wallpaper, the mixes of color and pattern, textures, layers, pom poms, fringe…I can’t say enough about this space! I’m working now on the design plan with the elements I’m going to use to carry this out! I’m getting giddy just thinking about being able to work in this space! Check back Monday to see how I’m going to bring this to life in our space.

We are on the same page… http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/a-playroom-office-where-creativity-thrives-229070 — What you said about feeling inspired and creative?!! YES YES YES. Also – your post from yesterday now has me wanting to add floor pillows around the perimeter of our room. Great idea for comfort PLUS texture and more pattern/color. xx Reply
