UncategorizedNursery Inspiration July 18, 2014I’ve always looked forward to being a mommy. As a designer, I’ve always dreamed of designing a nursery for my little one to come home to. If you remember from my big announcement post, we will be finding out the gender of our baby. But, I decided to go ahead and develop ideas for boy and girl nurseries in preparation. That way, when we find out which one is coming, we’ll already have some direction to get started with. For years, I’ve collected inspiring nurseries on Pinterest knowing one day, they would come in handy. I’m working on some nursery mood boards that I’ll be sharing next week and here’s some inspiration that I’m starting with. Make sure and click over to see the full tours and pin from the original source. {via} While I will most likely not do wallpaper in the nursery, there are many things that I love about this room. I love the bright, colorful rug and know I want to find the perfect one for our room. I also love the white palette with the contrasting dark, wood chest. I also love the gold statement light. A statement light is a must! I sense a DIY coming… {via} Here’s another one with a wall treatment and I love the modern, graphic feel of this one. I could so see something like this in our nursery. Again, we have a bright rug that really brings a pop of color into the room. I love the unique crib, the animal art, and the pop of gold. {via} I know y’all can tell what I love about this one. White palette, animal art, touch of gold, tie-dye bedspread, kilim, wood. Love everything about this. {via} I’m loving (which is apparent in the rest of our house) the dark wood and white contrast. And dyed curtains? We know I love that trend (see my tie-dye curtains here). It may make another appearance in the nursery. {via} I know this one seems different than the ones above. I usually steer clear of typical pink for girls and blue for boys. I love all of the nurseries above that are eclectic and unexpected. But I LOVE the poppy wall in this nursery. I think an installment like that would be amazing for a sweet little girl’s nursery. {via} I adore this little reading corner. One of my biggest goals with the nursery is to design a room that my child can grow up in. I think a reading corner is a must and this one has some serious style. I love the sheepskin on the floor and ofcourse, I love that black and white deer print. So there’s my inspiration as I’m formulating our nursery plans. I’m also drawing a lot of ideas from regular rooms that I love the style of. I want the room to have child-like elements, but be a room they can grow with. And if you notice, many of the elements I love above could go for boy or girl. I’m thinking of having a base palette that is the same for girl or boy and then layering on some other elements that are gender specific. Here’s what I know: our nursery will definitely have white, wood, a colorful rug, some dyed elements, and some animal art. Stay tuned for the mood boards next week!
