UncategorizedMore Sunroom Projects and Something I Forgot May 10, 2012Hey y’all! So, I was so excited to post our sunroom re-do yesterday that I forgot one very key thing: BEFORE PICTURES! I can’t believe I forgot that…seeing the before to after transformation is my favorite part! My mom saw the post and very sweetly e-mailed me later in the day suggesting that I show you guys what it looked like before. I’ve updated yesterday’s post with a few before pictures for those of you who may not have seen it yet. For those of you who did, I’m going to include a few here. This room was pretty bad before we started. It was painted a not too bad shade of green, but was in terrible shape. I should’ve gotten some better up close shots of the walls – there were holes, lots of stains, and lots of work to be done. Here’s the left side of the room before: And here’s how that same side looks right now: Here’s the other side of the room before: And here’s this side today: It’s getting there! As I said yesterday, there are a few things I still want to do in here. The first thing is to paint our curtain rods – very small thing, but will make a big difference. See the wood ones in this picture? Curtain rods are so expensive, especially for a long wall like this. So, we made our own out of wooden dowel rods from Lowe’s. Much cheaper option, but they’re wood. We’re going to paint them white so that they blend in, but just haven’t gotten there yet. I think it’ll make a big difference, though. The other main thing that I want to add is a rug for the sitting room. I started out thinking black and white stripe and have thought of a lot of other options along the way. Now I’m back to that. Something like this? What do y’all think? A black and white striped rug in this space? I’m thinking it would be just right. I might try painting one. I’ve seen so many tutorials on painted rugs around the blog world for a while. Have any of you tried that? Tomorrow, I’ll start breaking down the thrift store finds and re-do’s that have made up this sunroom so far. See y’all then!

Kelly @ Talk of the House says May 13, 2012 at 8:58 pm I like the idea of the black and white striped rug, but Megan’s thoughts about the ball of fur is something to think about…but I would be more concerned with the black part than the white part. EVERYTHING seems to show up on the black (I have black throw pillows.) How about some kind of natural fiber rug that is easy on the feet. What I really love is your desk!! Kelly Reply

Laura says May 30, 2012 at 8:16 pm I have burlap curtains, too! Except I bought mine at Bed, Bath, & Beyond for a huge chunk of money and they aren’t real burlap– faux burlap if you must. Aren’t they fabulous! They add so much texture to your room! PS… The Lettered Cottage posted your blog and I am not totally in LOVE! Reply
