UncategorizedKitchen Door June 13, 2013One of you asked when I was going to talk about the door that you kept seeing covered in the kitchen pictures. There wasn’t a doorway here at all before, but we wanted an entrance for us right off the driveway instead of our entrance being in the front door. It was covered because we needed it hung before we got around to staining it. Ideal? No. But we’ve been pulled in so many different directions that it just didn’t happen for a while. I didn’t understand why it had to be covered at first. I figured that out later when it wouldn’t open. Without being sealed, it swelled in the moisture and humidity of our beloved south. We had to take it down, trim the side down, and put back up. That was not a fun surprise. Here it was prior to staining from the inside: The door was ordered from Home Depot. I like the barn style and it lets in some light. And from the outside: Adding this door to the side of the house is not only more functional for us, but having this side entrance really breaks up that big blank white wall from the road. Starting to add bits of curb appeal! We stained it Provencial from Minwax. I really loved the white house with dark-stained doors. Here it is inside: I really wanted to keep it stained on the inside and out and instead of painting the inside white. The kitchen is all white, so it really pops. And outside: We have a new front door that will coordinate with this one because you can see both in the same view from the road. I’ll be posting my whole plan for the outisde of our little cottage soon, but this is a start!
