UncategorizedFourth of July at the Lake June 30, 2014 Late last night, all of my family gathered at our little cabin by the lake. For as long as I can remember, the majority of my summer was spent here. But the 4th was always special. We always came for the entire week and every day was filled with festivities. As children, we dressed in star-spangled hats and outfits and put on shows for the family. We would float for hours planning our birthday parties that would fall a few months later. And there were always fireworks and sparklers. I remember as a child how the lake felt like it came to life around the 4th of July. It was fun all summer, but it had a lazy, quiet feel the majority of the time. Only at the lake could you forget what day it was or even the time because it just didn’t matter. Things always changed during the week of the 4th. The lake was busier than usual with many people in town for their one visit that summer. On the holiday, fireworks rang out in every direction and you could see them reflecting off the water everywhere you turned. Our neighbor always has the best fireworks. Boats of people come to our little cove from all over the lake and anchor out in the middle just to watch them. I have such fond memories of this place, but to this day, it feels this way to me. Full of wonder and spectacular, especially at the 4th. You can read about our special spot on the lake and why it holds such a special spot in my heart here. I’ll be spending this whole week up there with family and will be sharing lots of photos of our time on Instagram! I do have posts that will go out this week about some progress of our exterior renovation! If you missed the before and inspiration, make sure you start there. While I’ll be posting normally, the internet is a bit spotty up there, so I won’t be as responsive on e-mails and comments, but will get back with you as soon as I return! I hope you all have some magic planned for the 4th!
