UncategorizedDay 7: 31 Days of Finishing Rooms October 7, 2011I’m back today with the “After” shot of our lantern turned pendant light fixture. Remember our “modern” before shot: Yep, it was definitely time to move on from this one. We took this lantern (meant for candles) from Pottery Barn: We bought a basic pendant light kit from Lowe’s and Chris went to town. First, he hand-sawed off the top off our lantern. I was freaking out at about this point. I don’t know why, but I just knew the lantern was going to break with how much pressure he was putting on it to saw off the top. It really didn’t want to come off… He drilled it… And that didn’t work, so he went back to sawing. The whole process took a little time, but eventually, we had this… From here, it was smooth sailing. He fed the cord for the pendant kit through the hole where the bulb hung down inside the lantern and voila! We have us a light fixture… I love how it turned out! I was worried it was too small at first, but the more we have lived with it, we think it’s just right. It looks good in the same view with the dining room chandelier too, which is great. I didn’t want something that competed. Well, I’m headed out for today. My sweet husband cooked dinner and keeps kindly hinting that its ready. So long for now!
