UncategorizedDay 6: 31 Days of Finishing Rooms October 6, 2011I was ready for a lot to be finished up in this room, but the worst part was what Chris calls our “modern light fixture.” This has been up since we painted the room…last October. I say a year is high time to move on from this little guy. I’ve been brainstorming for a while for the right fixture for here. It has to be short enough to walk under since it isn’t over a table, but I wanted it to be large enough to make a statement in this large room. My first thought was to make a twine light fixture, something like this… But, the more we thought about it and actually measured it out, we realized that it just wouldn’t work. Since this is circular, to be short enough, it would have to be really small. And, that just wouldn’t look right in this long room. So, we were back to the drawing board. And then, I saw this image on Pinterest… And, it hit me that some sort of a lantern would look perfect. But, lantern light fixtures can be pretty expensive, especially ones that look like this and I really like the finish on it. But I remembered that Pottery Barn has this lantern: It was perfect. So, we headed off and brought her home. Chris knew there would be some way to wire it up as a pendant light fixture. I love the weathered wood mixed with the tin. I think it’s going to look great in this room. I’ll be back tomorrow with how we did it and some after shots! As always, thanks for stopping by!
