UncategorizedBedroom Inspiration September 7, 2012I told you in my bedroom reveal post last week that the whole room was inspired by these two paintings: I got them last Christmas from my parents and LOVED them. They remind me of the rocky coast of California where we went on our honeymoon. I’ve been trying to find somewhere ever since to hang them. Since I was tired of the yellow that used to be in our bedroom, I really wanted to bring in my two new favorite colors: blue and green! Of course I wanted a little gold too, so these paintings were a perfect fit. I decided on them first. I knew I wanted to keep the all white bedding that was a wedding gift from Pottery Barn, but I wanted a few fun pillows. I got this feed sack on the yard sale and thought it would look great with the paintings, but would also bring in a more masculine feel. The little vintage floral one came from a fabric sample that I found at a thrift store. I found a bunch of fabric samples from a design shop, I assume, for $2.00. It probably had twenty or so samples that are big enough to make two small pillows or one large. I hit the jackpot! You might remember this fabric from a sunroom post I did…I was considering using it in there, but ended up choosing a different one. Since then, I’ve been wanting to find a spot for this because I love it so much! I realized that it pulled the blue and green out of the paintings and I knew it would work for me in here. I love it 🙂 The last pillow came from Pottery Barn. I’d had my eye on it for a while and when it went on sale last year, I bought it for our guest room. But since things are ever changing in our house, I moved it in here. The arrangement of the pillows is a big step for me. If you remember our last bedding, the pillows were very structured and symmetrical: I’ve always loved symmetry. But for some reason, I wanted a change from that too. I’ve seen so many images of bedrooms where the bedding is a bit more haphazard, but beautiful and I liked that. I like the neutral texture it adds. My favorite part of this room is this view. I love seeing my favorite art right above these pillows. Pops of blue and green on a big white pallet…definitely my style. It feels serene and calming to me. *** On a different note, I’ll be back later today with a big announcement hopefully. I just have to get permission first 🙂
