Home DecorThe Bathroom’s Surprise Element: Pink Towels July 12, 2016 I wanted to use a pop of pale pink in this bathroom so badly. I struggled with that because it is a shared bath and pink isn’t exactly my husband’s favorite color. I tossed around the idea of doing pale pink mirrors, but I think my husband might’ve killed me. But I couldn’t shake the idea of using pink in some way. Especially once I found this amazing Persian runner. While red is the main color, there are so many small pops in this that I love: especially the pink. Getting this rug made me want to pull out that pink even more. The majority of comments I get surround around how I mix color and for me, there’s a pretty simple formula. It all comes down to this…I start with a statement piece like this rug that has a lot of color and pattern. Then, I pull “minority” colors from it for the details. If I used a lot of red in this room, it would feel like it matched the rug too much. But pulling out the pink here feels coordinated without matching because there are only small touches of that shade in the rug. Designing bathrooms and kitchens are so much harder than other rooms because most everything needs to be functional. You don’t have nearly as much room for art or accessories, so you have to bring in the colors you want with function-heavy pieces. I was planning to get new towels for this bath because our other ones were wedding gifts and have seen better days. I came across these towels in a color called Peony from Christy Linens and I knew they were perfect. They have the perfect hint of pale pink without being too vibrant. AND they fulfilled my need for pink in a small, functional way that both my husband and I could live with. Sadly, this color is out of stock right now, but there are a lot of other great color options. And I love how they pull some pink out of the rug. I’ve heard such good things about Christy Linens for years and I was so excited to try out some of their products. They are known for having really lux towels at very affordable prices…exactly what I was looking for. While I wanted some nice new, soft towels, I wasn’t planning to spend hundreds of dollars on them. I went with the Classic Renaissance line. My favorite part about these towels is that they come in a bath sheet option instead of just regular large bath towels, so they’re basically like wrapping up in a big, soft blanket. They’re 100% Combed Egyptian Cotton and yet they don’t break the bank. We went with two bath sheets and then a small assortment of smaller towels. Nothing feels quite so luxurious after stepping out of a nice long soak in my clawfoot tub. One thing that I loved from our last bath and wanted to do again was open vanities with rolled towels underneath. They’re handy and pretty. Just like the towels, the baskets serve as a functional, yet stylish item in here that really contributes to the overall design of the room. This pop of pink is the perfect finishing touch to our bathroom and really completes the space. They really stand out when I look at the room, but they’re a completely functional purchase that we’ll use for years to come. You can check out all of their towel lines here. They have about any color you can imagine! Up tomorrow, I’ll be sharing a complete bathroom source list and the budget breakdown. This is a sponsored post by Christy Linens. All opinions are 100% my own.
