UncategorizedA Dining Room Update and More Yardsale Finds August 14, 2013 Yes, I know it wasn’t that long ago that I posted our in-progress styled dining room. We still have no light. There’s still no art hung on the wall. And yet, I’ve already changed it using some of more Longest Yardsale finds. I found this embroidered table runner for $5. I love the bohemian feel it has. I got the black Deacons’ Bench for Christmas last year and thought it might be a bit more eclectic down one side of the table. And probably my favorite thing is the wood slab down the center. It’s about three feet long and I spotted across one of the booths when we were out on the sale. I loved the unique shape it had and was expecting to see a pretty decent price tag. This thing is solid! But when I got over there, it was only $4.00. I clarified the price, though, because I thought it surely must’ve meant $40. But no, it was $4.00. Thankfully I didn’t try to offer more money this time 🙂 For now, there’s some pretty greenery cut from the yard. What room is complete without some green? But it’s also great to serve off of. We had some friends over for dinner the other night and we sat our salt and pepper grinders, some glasses, candles, and some drinks on it. Gotta love the rustic versatility! Now, I promise not to post another styled dining room and to actually get on some of the other projects in here. Namely, a light fixture. It gets pretty dark at night in this little corner with no light. I love candlelit dinners, but sometimes that gets a little weird. Church community group meeting by romantic candlelight? Yep, weird. For now, I’m having fun entertaining and enjoying it just like it is! That’s the beauty of living through this renovation. I used to feel like a room had to be “finished” before I could entertain. The problem with that is that my rooms are NEVER finished, so that meant never having people over which I really do love. Do y’all struggle with that too? Are you more enjoy the process people or fly in and finish it all and then entertain?
