Home DecorZillow Make it Yours Sweepstakes November 20, 2015This is a sponsored post by Zillow. All opinions and ideas are 100% my own. Most of you know that I often write for Zillow‘s blog and I love those guys over there! So when I heard about this dream home, Make it Yours, sweepstakes they’re running with Shutterfly, I had to join in! Zillow and Shutterfly have joined forces to giveaway $15,000 for you to “Make your Home Yours!” If you’re as thrifty as you can be like me, that money can go a long, long way. Budget is always a concern when you’re renovating and/or finishing a home. Believe me, I know! Coming off of a renovation like this, things are tight and there is still a lot of work to do that we’ll be saving and waiting for. They asked me what I would do with the sweepstakes winnings in our home and the answer is easy! {If interested, you can see our house befores here and the floor plan post here where I break down the changes.} There’s a section of this house that we left totally unfinished. We had planned to fully finish this area before moving in two months ago, but time and budget really ran out. This bathroom is going to be by far the most expensive room in the house and we’re waiting, saving, and coming up with a budget-friendly design we’re happy with. It’s a big bathroom, which we’re really excited about, but that also means more money of course. Attached to that bathroom are both of our closets. I love that my husband insists on separate closets! He apparently doesn’t like how I “organize.” These rooms currently have unpainted sheet rock and sub-floor. This is the beautiful view from our master bedroom door. And this is the view of the other side of the room and 15-foot vaulted ceiling. No, we did not plan for this room to be 15-feet tall! Our contractor encouraged us to do vaults in some of these rooms where the roof line allowed because it was no more money and would make the spaces feel larger. And my sweet little closet: With a sweepstakes like this, there’s no question we would go ahead and finish these areas! While we aren’t deprived without them, having an additional bathroom that’s in our bedroom will be a nice luxury. And actually having somewhere to hang my clothes will be awesome. Right now, my closet is the guest room bed and digging through that pile is getting old, friends. Here’s a little inspiration of where I’d head with these. As I said, we’re really focusing on BUDGET for the bathroom and I am a firm believer that you can absolutely create a gorgeous room on any budget. But….if we had the extra funds, I know this room would get some serious infusion of patterned tile. {via} {via} This stuff isn’t cheap, but man, does it make a statement in a room! And my closet. While this closet isn’t huge (though I’m in no way complaining – I’m grateful to have it at all!), I really envision making it like a little dressing room. {via} I love the built-in shelves, hanging rods and drawers. It feels so clean and organized! {via} And what I love most are closets with some serious personality. This really the only room in the house where I don’t have to consider anyone else’s taste. I want to have some fun with that! {via} To enter this fun sweepstakes, first head over to the giveaway page. Your home is your canvas and the whole goal behind this sweepstakes is to help you make it uniquely you! Haley says November 20, 2015 at 9:43 am Great giveaway! We’re house hunting right now and most of the ones in our price range are fixer uppers, so this would allow us to dive in to one of those houses that we otherwise would have to avoid. Reply
Courtney says November 20, 2015 at 1:22 pm Oh man we have been trying to save to renovate our bathroom for almost a year now. It needs a LOT of work, including adding electrical outlets (because it doesn’t have any!) and everything seems to be falling apart. We have a three bedroom with one bath, so if we won we would LOVE to add another bathroom onto our existing master! Reply
