UncategorizedYardsale Furniture Finds! August 9, 2012Alright, y’all, I’m back to show you the few pieces of furniture that we found on the yardsale. It’s going to be a shorter day than yesterday. Furniture is much more expensive, so of course I didn’t come home with quite as much, but I’m so excited to share these with you. The first two are technically wall art. I decided to post them today since yesterday got so long. I’ve been searching for an old tobacco basket for a while now, so I was so excited to find this first one. I scored this one for $40. Not as low as I’d hoped, but better than prices I’ve seen before. I found this platter shelf for $20, but talked them down to $18. I’ve seen these before and had planned to build one, but this one had character. We don’t have it hung yet, so I laid it on the floor so you could hopefully see how it is structured. I love the turquoise stained finish. On our fourth of July trip to New Bern, I saw this end table made from old galvanized washtubs. It screamed our style, so I took a photo knowing I would try to recreate it. I found these two washtubs to turn into our own version for $30 for the pair. And now for my final and FAVORITE find of the yardsale… We came across this old farmhouse worktable and I fell in love. I love the distressed green finish, the original old handle, and most of all, the metal work top. I had gone with something like this in mind for a future studio/workshop I want to design. I wanted something stylish and old, but with a top that could withstand some wear. I saw this little beauty and knew I’d found it. It was listed at $85, which was too rich for my blood. I know that’s a great price for a table that’s about seventy-five years old in great condition, but if something costs more than $20 or so it takes a whole lot for me to bite. We talked him down to $75 and I took it! Well, there you have it…my many finds of my first trip to The Longest Yardsale. I still can’t believe that for the price many people pay on a small piece of furniture, I got all of these awesome vintage finds to use in our home. I’m hooked on this kind of shopping! We’re already planning next year’s trip. I hope some of y’all will come!!! I’ll be back tomorrow with my highlight of the trip and it wasn’t a find…just a really cool experience!

I LOVE your farmhouse work table, the green is perfect and the little drawer…well, it’s swoonworthy! Don’t even get me started on that tobacco basket, it’s on my list of “love to have someday”. Congrats! 🙂 Reply
