UncategorizedWhere I Thrift March 16, 2012I’ve posted before on how I thrift, but never on where. I’ve gotten a lot of questions lately from people in the area about which thrift stores I go to, so I decided it was time to answer that question! For those of you who don’t live in the Greenville area, hopefully this will still be helpful by the type of thrift stores I go to. I will say that the biggest tip on thrifting is to go often. I know I said that in the “how” post, but really, that’s the only way that I’ve found some of this stuff. I check often. But, where you thrift matters to. So here goes. Here are some of my local favorites and the house project/item that I found there: The Miracle Hill Store on Wade Hampton Boulevard – this is one of my favorites for light fixtures and art. The furniture is normally overpriced to me. I found our dining room chandelier here (or I should clarify that my husband found it) for $15. Remember her? Before: After: {original post} I also got our new hall light fixture at this store for $4.00. Before: After: {original post} And I got this trunk here for $19. It’s going to be the coffee table in the sunroom. This store is also great for art, frames, and lamps. Salvation Army on Poinsett (right near downtown Greenville): This is the furniture store. My favorite piece that I’ve gotten there is our media table for $40. Before: After: {original post} They have awesome furniture at GREAT prices. {I have a new set of cane back chairs from this store that I’m hoping to post this weekend or next week – the cane backing is perfectly in tact and they were $2.50 each!}. Goodwill – (Goodwill furniture store on Poinsett is the best, but others are good too): My favorite piece found at this store is our dresser turned bathroom vanity for $49: {original post} I also got the french door for our headboard at a different Goodwill for $20 – this one was definitely hitting at the right time. I don’t normally find very much at this Goodwill. Before: After: {original post} Hospice and Home with Heart in Easley Remember this mirror? Yep, $10 already finished this way at Home with a Heart. And the sunroom fabric? $2 for about fifteen fabrics at Hospice. Shinola – this isn’t a thrift store. It’s an antique store in Greenville near the intersection of Stone and Wade Hampton. Some things are pricey, but you can find some rare cheap, awesome things! This is where our barn door came from for $40. {original post} And I’ve saved my absolute favorite for last… ABC Variety Mall in Pickens – Yes, I know. For those of you around here, it’s surprising that Pickens has the best!! This is technically an antique store, but they have thrift store prices for the most part. Here are my favorite finds from this sweet little place: The Deacon’s Bench for our Mudroom – $40: {original post} And these paintings for under $10 each (I can’t remember the exact amout): And the suitcases that’re serving as a end table in our living room for $20 (or so) each: {original post} Well, that’s all I have for today…and probably a good thing since this post is forever long! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend – get out and get thrifting!
