UncategorizedUpdate on the Renovations April 22, 2013Happy Monday! I’m so excited to share the current state of our renovation with you guys. I last shared the state of our house here. Almost two weeks ago! I meant to share more sooner, but the birth of this little one and me spending time with my sister and her new family hindered that a bit…as it should have! So, there’s SO MUCH that’s been happening around here that I get to share this week. I’m giddy just thinking about it! While I was away, we got beams. I left and the house looked like this. Notice the raw wood beam? I returned and it looked like this. And the view from our front door looked like this. I love the contrast of the dark wood against the White Dove walls. As you probably noticed in some of these pictures, the kitchen is farther along! Some of the appliances have been delivered, but none are working yet. Our fridge is back ordered sadly, so we are anxiously waiting! But the stove and hood are in place, just waiting to be hooked up. One last thing on the electrical and they’ll be up and running. The sink is in, but again, plumbing isn’t hooked up. The plumbing for this has to be run at the same time as the plumbing for the addition, which is happening this week! Even though she doesn’t work, I love staring at her. She’s so pretty. Speaking of pretty, the counter tops are in! I love them so much more than I even thought I would. They’re Pretoria White granite. I wanted a marble-looking granite and these definitely did the trick! Here’s an up close shot. I talked a lot about this choice here. OOh, things are really starting to move!!! Okay, they’ve been moving, but to us living in this construction zone, it’s felt pretty slow. But y’all, we’re so close! The main area is almost done and we can move in furniture and the kitchen will be working and ready for all her pretty extras! We are so close to the part that I love and have dearly missed…decorating, DIY projects, crafting, prettiness. Yay! Is it sad that I’m more excited about that than having a working kitchen, working television, working internet, a place to sit down at night, the list goes on and on… And the addition has started! More on that tomorrow…

Kate says April 23, 2013 at 12:06 pm Your countertops are gorgeous! You will love the functionality. If you have a cast iron skillet, don’t ever let it touch your granite though. This is the only thing I have found that has stained my white granite so far! Love the progress! Reply
