UncategorizedUpdate on Chevron Curtains August 5, 2011Well, as with pretty much every other project I’ve tackled so far, this one is turning out to be a little harder than I anticipated. I am definitely not finished yet, but wanted to give you guys an update and ask some advice. I said I was going with more of a subtle color scheme. I started with the same tan linen curtains from IKEA that are in our bedroom. Then, I measured out my chevron stripe and taped it off. This part took forever! I really thought I could tape these off pretty quickly, but not so much…It took me three or four hours to figure out the correct measurements for the pattern and tape it off. After taping it, I started painting. I decided to use kind of an avocado green paint to match the linen and green pillow that inspired it all. The curtains that inspired it were done with a small roller, but I used a small sponge. That definitely added to the time. The finish is a little splotchy with just one coat, which I kind of like. I like the texture that it adds. But, what do you guys think? I’ve left the tape in case I want to roll on another, thicker coat. I’ve painted so far for about an hour and this all I got done: Two stripes!!! Guess what I’ll be doing this weekend…
