UncategorizedThe Highlight of the Yardsale August 10, 2012First off, thanks for the comments about our finds. I’m planning to start finding new homes for them today, so I’m excited!!! Well, there were so many highlights of our yardsale trip. Time with family was a huge one, finding some great stuff was fun, but I told you I was going to talk about one today. On the first day, we were checking out our last place of the day. Ashley, my sister, had walked on ahead of us and all of a sudden turned around and started frantically motioning us over. We thought she’d really discovered a good find. What else could it be on the yardsale? We rushed to her side and through a row of tents saw this: That’s right, a Junk Gypsy trailer. The Junk Gypsies were on the Yardsale! Do y’all watch their show on HGTV? I’m very much in love with it and them. They’re two sisters who have a family business with their parents and whole family involved. They focus on designing spaces and events for others solely by repurposing junk that they’ve found at places like the Yardsale! I thought before leaving that they might be there, but didn’t want to get my hopes up. It just seemed like somewhere they’d show up! And they did. Their truck and trailer that I’ve seen many times on the show was just sitting there taunting us to approach. Initially, we didn’t see either gypsy lady, but I was just excited to see their truck. Then, Jolie (one of the sisters) hopped out of the back of their truck and went to look at a booth. My parents immediately began urging me to go meet her. I was a little timid. I never want to bother anyone, but dad insisted. He walked on ahead of us and went straight up to her. He said, “Hey, I’ve got two daughters who love your show and would absolutely love to meet you and get a photo with you!” She was so sweet and excited to meet us. We talked for just a minute and told her how much we love her show. She was very grateful and we got this pic: Made my trip! We insisted that mom and dad also get in the photo. They first found this show and kept telling me that I HAD to watch it. They said it was right up my alley and they were right! I love many of the ideas that they come up with. Their rooms just have a soul, which is such a difficult quality to bring in. Most of all, though, they are so endearing. They are funny, kind, and really make you want to watch them. I loved seeing that she was exactly the same in person. Here’s a link to their show website on HGTV. They show airs every Saturday night at 7pm. We stumbled across them the next day too. They were actually filming a segment! It was just too cool. They were filming HGTV’s Endless Yardsale special, which will air sometime in October. There isn’t a defnite date yet. I’m keeping a watch out, though, so I’ll let you know! Y’all can get a better idea for what the Longest Yardsale is really like! Here’s a link to their personal website too. You can find their social media accounts here, which I must say are really fun to follow. They post some good stuff. In addition to designing rooms and repurposing junk, they sell some pretty cool stuff on their website too. Here’s my favorite find that I’m definitely adding to a Christmas list! {link} I love the leather and metal plate cuff, but that quote…now that speaks to me! Y’all go check them out… Thanks for reading my Yardsale Highlight! Happy weekend 🙂
