UncategorizedThe Guest Bathroom November 8, 2012Well, as promised, I’m back to post our Guest Bathroom. Usually, I would post some photos while we’re doing the process, but we were working so hard to finish this room to get the house up for sale that I didn’t take any along the way or really have time to post them. This room has been the saddest room in the house to me for quite sometime. I think when I show you pictures, you’ll see why (no offense to someone who might like this older style, it just isn’t quite us 🙂 ). We had a blue tub, blue shower insert, blue countertop, blue sink, way too big of a vanity to where you couldn’t really use the room, outdated lights, popcorn ceiling, and linoleum walls that looked like tile with flowers on them. Yes, I said tile-looking walls that had flowers on them…interesting. Fixing that is a tall order, right? Here’s one of the before pictures. Chris wanted to be in it to express how the room made him feel. Here’s another before of the vanity: I always look at the before pictures when the room is finished and I’m ready to post it and wish I had more and better ones. I’ve got to learn to take up close detailed before pictures! Anyway, here’s an after: Here’s another before: And the after of this view: This room is small, as many guest bathrooms are, so getting the photos I wanted was tough! One day I will invest in a wide-angle lens…until then these will have to do. Here’s some other views of the vanity. We went with a smaller one because the other one took up the entire floor and really got in the way. Here’s another view of the newly tiled floor: The burlap shower curtain makes me happy. I love the white fringe along the bottom of it that you can see in these pictures. Man, I should’ve steamed it, though! A little bit of vintage art… And one last photo of the lighting and mirror…probably my very favorite thing in the whole room… It feels so good to have people over now…I’m not embarressed to have them use the guest bathroom! Well, I’ve gotta run today. We have a downtown dinner date planned for tonight…after all of this craziness we’re in need of some catch up time. I’ll be back to post sources and a little bit more explanation behind our design decisions in this room tomorrow.

Kelly - Talk of the House says November 9, 2012 at 11:00 pm Three things: 1. The blue bathroom takes me back to my parent’s bathroom growing up! Seriously. 2. Love the changes. REALLY love your light over the mirror. 3. The pictures – oh my goodness girl. I had a set of those exact same prints hanging in my kitchen in one of our first homes. I can even remember buying them from an antiques booth about this time of year at a Christmas show. I never would have thought to put them with burlap, but it really works in there! They are a classic. Reply
