UncategorizedThe Dressing Table September 5, 2012Thank y’all so much for your sweet comments about the bedroom. I loved it and it’s exciting to hear y’all did too! Today, I want to share a little more detail about my dressing table. I love seeing this as soon as I walk in the door. It feels like my little personal space. Obviously, Chris doesn’t really use this table 🙂 This feels like it’s been a long time coming too, probably because it has. I first posted about this table here. If you look at the date, you’ll see that I wrote that initial post over a year ago! It has taken that long to get the stool ready and everything fully set up. Granted, for a while now, I’ve been trying to decide about redecorating the room and I knew that would affect how I finished all of this. As a reminder, here’s a before picture of the table: And now: I recovered the stool in this fabric from Wal-mart. It was $2.00 a yard, and I only needed half a yard, so that was awesome. Plus, I liked how it looked with the rug. And an up-close shot of the fabric. I love the vintage feel of it. Vintage florals make me happy 🙂 I knew I wanted to display, but also organize my jewelry here so that I could access it more easily. I got this necklace hanger at Old Time Pottery for $9.00 years ago, but it was brown. I sprayed it white and love how it turned out. Do y’all remember the horse paint by number that I found on the yard sale? I LOVE IT! Chris doesn’t so much so I put it over on my side of the room. I also got the wooden jewelry stand from the yard sale. Along with some white bowls, I stored some of my other jewelry. In the little silver pitcher, I store my makeup brushes so they’re ready and accessible. I love having this little area designated for “getting ready.” Is it a necessity? No…but it sure is fun and girly!
Kelly @ Talk of the House says September 9, 2012 at 2:17 pm I had a vanity just like that one in the very first house I rented in the mountains of north Georgia. It was the only piece of furniture that “belonged to the house” and stayed with it when I moved out. Now every time I see a vanity like that it takes me back to that first year on my own and my first year teaching. Yours looks better than mine did since you put that fresh coat of white paint on it though! And btw..even if you are sharing the room with a man, you still need your “girly space.” 🙂 Kelly Reply
