UncategorizedSwap It Like It’s Hot June 24, 2014 Thrifting is my thing, y’all! So when I was asked to join in this bloghop hosted by Charlotte of Ciburbanity and Jessica of Gourley Girl and Guy, I was thrilled. Not only did it give me the opportunity to thrift shop, but the really fun twist here is I received something thrifted from Jessica for my project! And I sent my finds to Danielle of 2 Little Superheroes. As a reminder, here were the items that I received from Jessica. I thought of a lot of different options on what to do with these three beauties. I’ve been wanting to create a little jewelry drop zone on the dresser in our bedroom. I have this jewelry storage area in my closet. But I always take off jewelry and leave it lying on the dresser at the end of the night. So, these three items came in handy in creating a little DIY jewelry drop zone on the bedroom dresser. As soon as I saw the china plate, cup and saucer, and deer figuring, I immediately saw surfaces to hold jewelry. I guess I already had this project in mind! I started by corralling everything on a tray. When you have a lot of small items like this clustered together, it can feel scattered and cluttered. The tray anchors it and makes one vignette instead of a lot of items clumped together. The china plate became a little stand on a brass candlestick. And the cup and saucer was perfect for my rings. Liquid Nails works great to attach these. I’ve used it for similar projects several times and have always had great results. I love that this gives me two options for storage. I can drop some down inside the cup and drop the rings I wear everyday on the saucer. And I’m sure you already noticed, but my little deer friend went neon. I love some good neon and have done quite a few projects with it lately. You can see my neon yellow office chair here and my neon pink splattered pillow here. I painted the deer with the same pink paint as the pillow: Rustoleum’s Fluorescent in Pink. It may be intended for sale signs, but it sure works as my go-to neon paint! I love re-purposing and using things in an unexpected way, so my little deer holding some jewelry is a perfect fit. This is the perfect little jewelry drop-zone filled with some personality and quite a bit of function. Thanks, Jessica, for these amazing items! You knew me too well! If you haven’t already, make sure you pop over and check out what she did here. And make sure you stop in at the next stop on this train: Danielle from 2 Little Superheroes. I’m so in love with the items I sent her…I had to make myself ship them away and not keep them for myself! Here’s the whole list of blogs participating in today’s fun bloghop! Baileywife @ Irishman Acres says June 24, 2014 at 8:30 am Love the idea of the swap! That would be fun to do with a bunch of friends even if you didn’t have a blog. (none of my friends or family have a blog, and don’t know any other bloggers)….hmmmm….my mind is racing! Fun! And love your new jewelry spot, mine too ends up on my dresser and my jewelry armoire is literally 5 ft away! 🙂 ~Kim Reply

Fara says June 24, 2014 at 10:23 am I have one of those little trees your necklaces and bracelets are hanging on. It was my mom’s and holds measuring spoons, ice pick and an olive fork (I think). What a great way to repurpose it if all the tools are missing or rehomed! Reply
Lindsay says June 24, 2014 at 2:54 pm Fara, thank you for sharing! That is so interesting! I had no idea what it was for…for all I knew, it was meant to hold necklaces! That’s something – re-purposing without even realizing! Reply
