UncategorizedSunroom Wall Art Tutorial May 23, 2012I posted about our sunroom gallery wall here. I talked about where I got each one and what the significance was. Two of these I got at Goodwill and the others are pictures that Chris took on our honeymoon. I wanted to use these photos, but I already had the other two paintings and wanted them to fit well together. I now use Photoshop for all of my editing, but before I used Paint.net. Have any of you used it? It is awesome! It’s a free online download and pretty easy to figure out. It works similarly to Photoshop. If you’d like to download it and have a free photo editer, you can find it here. To create these paintings out of Chris’ photos, I used Paint.net and their oil painting setting. It took me one click to turn these into this – really! Anyone could do it!!! Here was an original: Here it is after: {this photo was the view from our bed and breakfast window in Napa} Here’s another before shot: The after: {We had a picnic on a mountain top in Napa looking down over Napa Valley. This was the view.} Last before: And the after: {This is Chris’ favorite. It’s a bridge we crossed while driving along the coast down Highway 1.} I feel weird doing a tutorial for this because it is that simple, but I want everyone to be able to do it yourself! The Steps: 1. Open picture into Paint.net. 2. Go to Effects in the top Menu Bar. 3. Go to Artistic. 4. Choose Oil Painting. Yes, that’s really it! You could take it a step further and adjust color levels or brightness and contrast, but the colors were exactly what I wanted on these. Y’all should try it! Paint.net is great too for all the usual photo editing stuff: brightening up a dark photo, getting out red-eye, etc. I loved these original photos – they really are beautiful. But to fit on that wall with the other paintings, I wanted a painting effect. I love how these turned out! It’s so neat to have special art on your walls that holds a memory instead of just stuff you gather at a store. Speaking of memories, with our anniversary last week I’ve been thinking back over our wedding a lot. I posted about them here and here, if you’re interested. If any of you use this to create your own memory-filled wall, PLEASE send pictures. I want to see it and share it with our other readers here 🙂 *** On a different note, I am so excited about what I’ll be posting tomorrow. One of my very favorite bloggers has agreed for me to feature a new room she has designed. This room is one of my favorite things that I’ve seen in a while. I can’t wait!!! Come back tomorrow and check it out!
