UncategorizedScout & Nimble – Eclectic, Coastal Dining Room July 22, 2014 For over a year now, I knew this was coming and I am so excited to share it with you all today! Many of you may know my good friend Jesse from the blog Scout & Nimble. As you may have seen on social media or around the blogosphere, Scout & Nimble has undergone a huge change. As of this week, a new Scout & Nimble has launched. They are now an online retailer and custom design center providing shoppable rooms for customers! Their mission is to bring exceptional designers and design enthusiasts together with unique products so consumers can browse and shop fully curated rooms. They believe, as I do, that your surroundings and how it feels to you really does affect your every day life. And everyone should have the opportunity to have a beautifully designed and styled space! I am so thrilled to be a Room Designer for this new brand, providing custom design boards with some of my very favorite Scout & Nimble products. I feel so honored to be a part of this brand’s beginning. When Jesse asked to come on as a Room Designer, I was shocked and thrilled! She’s looking to provide designers with all different styles and design aesthetics so that EVERYONE can find inspiring design and products on her site. From the moment she shared these dreams with me last year at Haven, I knew it would be a hit and getting to be a small part of it really is a dream come true. {Jesse and I at the Scout & Nimble booth at Haven this year} Jesse and I first met at Haven last year. We immediately clicked and became great friends. I tend to think that you meet all of your “best” friends in childhood through college, but Jesse has shown me over the last year that you can make those deep, soul kind of friends in adulthood. This year, she’s been there for me through some happy and sad times. We’ve dreamed together and cried together. She always has a way of giving my heart exactly what it needs. Now, I’m thrilled to stand by my dear friend and support her in this new venture. I know it will be a huge success and bring a whole new dimension to the design world. Today, I’m so excited to share the first room that I designed for their site. My goal with each design was to really push myself not beyond my style, but to incorporate other style elements and really go outside my comfort zone. For my first mood board, I designed an Eclectic, Coastal Dining Room. My goal with this room was to taken a modern and fresh approach on traditional coastal decor. I took my inspiration from deep, ocean blues and then layered white and texture on top. Most of the artwork is a direct nod to coastal decor. I’m so in love with all of Scout & Nimble’s coastal art! I mean, those ship sketches are amazing! And the abstract painting is inspired by San Francisco Bay, so it ties in the coastal theme while adding to the room’s modern appeal. I wanted the room to feel eclectic, yet cohesive. Often, with coastal decor, you see a lot of white distressed furniture. And I love white, distressed furniture, but I wanted a different feel for this room. So, I chose the steel and white table, white modern end chairs, and wooden chairs for down the side. My favorite part of this room are the nautical pendants. My vision was instead of having one grand chandelier hanging centered over the table, to take two of these nautical pendants and hang them spaced equally. For more insight into how I designed this room and all of the product links, go to this board’s page by clicking on the Shop this Room button in the mood board above.
