UncategorizedQuick Mantle Plan June 6, 2012Hey guys! I’d planned to have a lot more for you today, but I haven’t gotten quite as much done as I’d planned. Today really felt like my first true day of summer…I was so tired yesterday! I got started on a new book out in an adirondack chair in our backyard and spent some time cuddling with Gracie. The time flew by, so not as much work happened on the mantle, but I loved the cuddle time I had with our furry little one…she won’t be little much longer! I wanted to share the DIY project that I’m doing for our mantle. I don’t have a finished picture yet, but here’s the plan. Y’all know how much I love word art, right? We recently found these old salvaged boards and knew they’d be perfect for a little summer mantle word art: I love the blue color and it looks like the paint was almost washed off revealing the wood underneath. Something about the color and the finish just said summer to me! I’m going to use white paint for the words and I am in love with the quote that I found to put on here. “Warm summer sun, shine kindly here. Warm southern wind, blow softly here. Green sod above, lie light, lie light. Good night, dear heart, good night, good night.” ~Mark Twain I LOVE IT!!! Such beautiful language, and obviously very summery and southern. It reminds me of all that I love about southern summers: sunshine, kindness, southern breezes, being lazy, wonderful nights that make you just want to settle in and stay awhile. I’ll finish this up tomorrow and have an after shot for y’all. Along with this, I’m using some driftwood, rope, galvanized details, and a few other summery surprises for this mantlescape. Can’t wait to share! Now, I’m off to a dinner with some of my closest and oldest friends. She has the cutest porch and I’m hoping we’ll spend some time sipping a cool drink and catching up 🙂 See y’all tomorrow…
