UncategorizedOur Christmas Table and Giveaway Day One December 3, 2012Before we get to the Giveaway, I’m going to share a few pictures of our Christmas dining table. I realized in putting this together that although it feels very festive and “Christmassy” to me, there is nothing that could only be used for Christmas on the table. I think I’m starting to lean towards that type of decorating – so versatile! I knew that I wanted to use the black and white check table runner from our shop and the deer napkins. But I didn’t want to totally do black and white by using my usual white dishes. So, I brought in these vintage green and gold dishes that I got for Christmas last year. I love the different feel that they add from the traditional red and green. For the centerpiece, I wanted something simple. I just went with a wooden bowl filled with pinecones and some antlers. On the end of the table, I decided to do something a little different. Instead of setting a sixth place setting, I put out a little soup serving station. I set out the soup tureen and a wine crate. In the wine crate, I set out bowls, spoons in a mason jar, and you always need some candles. I posted back in the fall about setting the dining table and whether or not you go for pretty and set or just a centerpiece and functional. I’ve just recently started leaving it set and I must say, I’m liking it. It makes me so happy every time I walk past. And now… Onto our very first Giveaway here on the blog!!! I have been so excited about this. I believe Christmas is about giving, so I want to do exactly that! Here’s how it’s going to work: So, basically, leave a comment each day for one entry in that day’s Giveaway. For additional entries for ALL WEEK, do any of the three above extra options and let me know in the comments. I’ll announce our winners at the end of the week so that you have plenty of time to read, comment, and get yourselves entered! Now, onto the fun stuff…today’s Giveaway! Today, you are entering to win a set of cloth napkins with painted deer head featured on my Christmas dining table above! So instead of just leaving any comment to enter, I thought we’d make this fun. Each day, we’ll have a Christmas related question. Today, I want to hear your very favorite Christmas song and why. I’ll answer first…this is such a tough one to me because I seriously love all Christmas music, but if I had to choose… Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s Christmas Canon. You can listen to it here. I love the Pachelbel Canon being included, but what really gets me are those sweet children’s voices. Now, tell me yours!
Jennifer Dudley says December 3, 2012 at 6:33 pm You know what Lindsay….I cannot just name one!!! I teach preschool and years ago I taught a little boy for a few months…..before they moved. His sweet mama gave me a Christmas CD that is all instrumental. I LOVE and look forwar to breaking that thing out every year. The biggest miracle is I haven’t scratched it yet!! I get off work everyday at 12:30 and after loving and teaching those babies for 3 1/2 hours I need some peace and quiet and this cd is exactly that. Peaceful and quiet. And when you pair it with a HOT HOT Gingerbread Latte from Starbucks……I am almost positive it is a little slice of heaven!!! Merry Christmas! Jennifer Reply
Sandy A says December 3, 2012 at 8:30 pm How nice to start out the Holiday Season with a give away everyday this week! I am excited to enter. And my favorite Christmas Song is hard to name since I love so many of them–but if I must pick one it is Silent Night. Not for any specific reason other than I just love it–it is so beautful. (O Holy Night is a tie with it for sure.) I love all the Christmas music–and I play it year ’round Reply
Kelly - Talk of the House says December 4, 2012 at 12:00 am Okay first, I love the black and white check runner, and the napkins with the deer are beautiful. Second (or third?) the song you chose is one I have loved for a very long time. The voices in it are soooooo sweet. But if I had to choose one, it would be The First Noel performed by the Morman Tabernacle Choir. It is such a song of glorious celebration of the birth of God’s son. It is pure joy. I put Pandora on the “Messiah:Hallelujah Chorus” radio and hear it frequently. Thank you for your very sweet giveaway! Reply
Kristina says December 4, 2012 at 12:44 am O Holy Night is my most favorite carol of all time. I don’t care who sings it, as long as they do a good job. Such a beautiful song. Your table looks beautiful! I love it! Reply

Stuart Goetke says December 4, 2012 at 1:11 pm My husband and I just got married in June, so this is our first Christmas! Matt has an old record player that we listen to often. In an effort to begin some new family traditions, we have been listening to Christmas records at night while we’re relaxing, cooking dinner, or decorating. My favorite one so far is “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” by Frank Sinatra. We go to yard sales every Saturday morning and Matt found a Frank Sinatra Christmas record for $1! Another favorite is “White Christmas” by Bing Crosby. I love the vintage green dishes. The gold gives it a fancy touch! I also like how your setting can be used through January. Decorations that aren’t limited to a season make me happy! Reply
Rachael H. says December 4, 2012 at 3:42 pm I know this is silly, but I LOVEEE Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas. Mainly because when I hear it I just think of the end of Love Actually, when the little girl is singing it and she points to the boy that’s drumming, and then the prime minister and the assistant finally get together. probably my favorite movie of ALL time, not just holiday related. 😉 But if we’re going more tradtional, I really love Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. Its so soft and sweet and lovely. I love the deer napkins! Great giveaway! Reply

Just saved it to my favorites on Etsy 🙂 Favorite Christmas song would be a tie between Silent Night and Little Drummer Boy.
